Dr. Hannah Asher’s love life was a mess. She told Mitch Ripley she loved him. He was trapped in a well at the time and everyone thought he was going to die, but then he survived. He even got his job back. He was now fully recovered from his ordeal and he wanted to have a talk with Asher. She did tell him she loved him after all. They were going to see each other at work. She couldn’t really take the words back and so she has to make a decision about their future. Does she want to try again with Ripley? Or she is ready to close the book on the relationship?

Asher was telling her sister all about it when her sister began feeling discomfort. Not with the topic of conversation. Her older sister Lizzy was pregnant. She tried for years to have a baby. She was finally pregnant now thanks to Asher funding her IVF treatments and she’s had terrible indigestion for the past week. Lizzy was ready to ignore it. Asher knew better than that. Asher was an OBGYN. She wasn’t her sister’s doctor only she knew enough to get her sister looked at. Asher took Lizzy to Gaffney.

It was her day off. She didn’t think she’d run into Ripley and funnily enough they saw each other right as she came in with her sister. Ripley came over. He said hi to the both of them. He was suggesting that they catch up to talk when a boy came in. The boy was turning blue. He said his vision was blurry. Ripley was on call so he went with the boy into the ED. His name is Miles. He was with his parents when they visited their farm. Dr. Frost came over to assist. They asked if Miles had gotten into the medication or if he was around any of the pesticides?

Miles didn’t do either. The doctors later found a snakebite on his foot. He got bit by a snake out on the farm and he needed antivenom. His parents didn’t have a problem with it. Only they did start documenting it for their social media. They do renovations and they recently started a social media account to highlight their work. Their page took off. They developed a following. The following now wanted to offer medical advice and so Dr. Frost tried to stop that one in its tracks. He was a child actor. He knew the pitfalls of putting a child on display.

Frost also didn’t care about their social media numbers. Or that they were hoping to get their own tv show. He didn’t want the parents taking advice from people without a medical degree. He tried to tell the parents that and he was a little rough with what he said. Ripley had to step in. Ripley was considered the hothead until his accident in his well. The fact he had to smooth things over had warned Frost to walk it off. Frost was doing so as Asher got some bad news. Lizzy’s baby was stillborn.

The baby’s heart stopped beating about a week ago. When she started experiencing indigestion. It had been a sign that something wasn’t right and Lizzy was kicking herself for ignoring it. Lizzy needed a D&E afterwards. She asked her sister to do it. It was against hospital policy for doctors to treat their family members, but Dr. Archer agreed to run it past legal. He was going to do his best to make sure that Asher got to do this. This was one of the worst moments in Lizzy’s life. She wanted the person she knew would have loved the baby to handle her remains. She knew that her sister would take care with her late niece.

Tonight was the intern Dr. Howard’s last day. She was starting her fellowship tomorrow. Archer wanted to go easy on her. He assigned her to Murph. Murph comes in every month with a mysterious ailment and the doctors never found anything. They always have to release him. Howard was given his case because it was an easy one. They thought she would look him over. Determine it wasn’t emergency. Then release him like they all do. It was just that this doctor didn’t want to end her time in the ED on a dud. She wanted to treat Murph. She kept looking even as Dr. Lenox gave her the all-clear to release Murph.

Murph always asking for medication to help him “sleep”. The other doctors determined that he was drug seeking. They didn’t let him get the good stuff and still Murph came back every month. The intern was looking into his symptoms when Frost lost it on Miles’s parents. The parents were taking videos of their son in a coma for social media. It was a step too far for Frost. He yelled at the parents. He said the antivenom wasn’t working because they didn’t know what bit Miles and that he only got bit because they weren’t watching their son like they should have.

The parents really took what he said to heart. The mom realized their social media presence had gotten out of control. They originally started their page as something fun to do as a family. It has since become a beast of their own making. The mom stopped taking videos. The dad also went back to the farm and he went looking for the snake that bit Miles. He found it. He brought it into the hospital in a bag and he put the bag on the floor when he was going through security. And so he tried to do a good thing, but he let a snake loose in the hospital.

It was Howard that later found it. She finally diagnosed Murph. She determined what his problem was. She gave him treatment and he was calling her a saint when they both spotted a huge snake. They both screamed. Howard was more quick thinking because she trapped the snake under a garbage can. She saved the day in more ways than one. The ED staff threw a going away party for her in the doctor’s break room. Lenox even got chat with the handsome surgeon from upstairs at the party.

Lenox had a patient who reconnected with his ex-wife. The ex-wife has dementia. It was going to be a slow and grueling few years yet he didn’t care. He still loved her. He still wanted to be with her. It made Lenox see that she could still meet the right person even if she does have the same disease that ultimately killed her mother. Anyways, the snake being found allowed them to treat Miles. He woke up from his coma. He was going to be okay. Ripley had thought the parents learned their lesson and instead they went right back to making videos with Miles for social media.

It reminded Frost that some parents don’t deserve to be parents, but Lizzy’s wasn’t one of them. She deserved to be a mother. She would have been a good mother. She’ll just never have a biological child now. She needed an emergency hysterectomy and so Asher had to take her sister’s womb out. It that or lose her sister. And she couldn’t lose her sister.
