In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Officer Cook responded to a shooting at Ahmed Jewelers. She had been with Torres at the time. She was driving him when the call came in and Torres convinced her to take it. He promised to stay in the car. He lied only he did come in handy at the end.

Cook walked into that store to find two people dead. This included one of the offenders. She saw someone running from the store. He would have gotten away too if Torres hadn’t body slammed him. Torres shouldn’t have done it. He was injured. Its why he was riding a desk.

Torres needed to extra pain medication when he got back to the office. Voight wasn’t mad at him either. The man that Torres caught was a tweaker. He was also a witness. He saw three guys in masks go into the jewelry store and shoot it up. Two of them fled after the shooting started.

They took off in a car. The security cameras backed up what the tweaker said. He entered the store afterwards hoping to grab enough to sell for drugs. He wasn’t their shooter. He had no part in what happened.

Intelligence identified one of the robbers. His name is Amir Jackson. He was a college student. He had a full ride thanks to a basketball scholarship and he put that risk nine months ago by getting a DUI. He got probation.

He did the necessary community work. He went to therapy. He was considered a good kid, but that assessment must have been wrong. The cops tracked the bullets at the scene to several other smash and grabs. No one had died prior to this last incident that killed two.

The crew wore all black. They wore these scary masks. They were armed. They usually didn’t grab much. They were more into defacing the place with graffiti than they were about making it rich.

Then this last job went sideways. This crew killed the owner of the store. One of them was killed. They were probably running scared and so the cops best lead on finding them was the car. The getaway car was registered to Ruby Rios. She was a stripper with three priors. She was smart enough to pretend her car got stolen.

Ruby just wasn’t smart enough to scrub her socials. She pretended she didn’t know Amir. The cops checked her social media and she had still had photos of her with Amir posted.

They were at her strip club. Atwater knew it. He said the place was a dump. It was also known for theft, drugs, and prostitution. Voight sent in two officers to go undercover at the strip club. They were supposed to catch Ruby selling drugs to her client and she saw right through them. She made them for cops. She said she was willing to talk for a price.

Ruby wanted twenty grand. Voight thought she was delusional. He reminded her that she had priors and a bad attitude. He could tie her to a robbery homicide.

Sure, it was circumstantial. It also was enough to send her to prison for life. Ruby admitted to them that she let Damone borrow her car. She was talking about Damone Russell. He was another basketball player at the same university. He was also locked in for the first round of the draft the moment he left school. He had a lot to lose and he didn’t care about any of it.

The cops went to go tell him to come with them. He initially refused to leave with cops. Cook then tried to threaten him by saying she could bring up his association with his murder if he didn’t leave with them. By time they showed up at the station, Damone’s lawyer was there.

She said one call with the mayor will make this go away. The mayor was a huge Damon fan and had even been at Damon’s last game. The lawyer also said that Damone’s brand was worth four million dollars. And counting.

They couldn’t touch Damone. They needed an airtight case to make a move against him. Cook then went to Voight with a plan. She offered to turn Ruby into a criminal informant.

She thought she could get through to her. Cook left out that her mom has been contacting her and that she’s been ghosting her mom because she wasn’t interested in what she had to say. Cook used to spend every summer with her rich mom. She tried to do everything right. She did all that for a mere five minutes of her mother’s time and so she was done pandering to that narcissist. Its what she told Ruzek.

Cook was ignoring her issues when she talked to Ruby again. She convinced her to become a CI in return for ten grand. Ruby agreed to it and then she went back on the deal. She tried to go through with it at first.

She lured Damone to the club. She took him to a private room. She offered to give him a dance. Damone was drunk and talking. He asked her if she was mad at him. Is that why she told the cops about the car? He was telling her he loves her and that’s when her camera went dark. Cook asked Atwater to check on Ruby.

Ruby was gone. Her cell phone was left at the club. She left with Damone. Their car disappeared on the cops. The cops eventually found Ruby at a motel. She claimed that Damone was getting suspicious and that she slept with him to get him to talk. Ruby pretended the camera went dead on its own.

She said Damone told her that he admitted he didn’t shoot anyone. He apparently told her that it was Clay Watson. He was some kind of equipment manager for the team. Clay gave the bloody jewelry to his girlfriend. The cops checked. It was the truth.

Clay was the third man in the crew. He got arrested and he wouldn’t talk. He demanded a lawyer. Only Cook realized that Ruby lied to them. Ruby and Damone weren’t at the motel for an hour.

They were there for ten minutes. Ruby wanted a way out of her life and Damone was that. Its why she lied about the wire. She also bribed the motel front desk to say they were there for the whole hour. Cook tried to tell her that she doesn’t need Damone. And they both knew that wasn’t true.

Cook made up for his mistake by trusting Ruby. She tracked her movements. She found out that Ruby and Damone ditched the stuff from the robberies in the river. The bag was found with crucial evidence.

It was also Damone that shot the store owner. The happy couple were arrested now that the cops have concrete evidence. Damone’s lawyer wasn’t going to get him out of this one. Voight didn’t tell Cook I told you so about Ruby. He said that all informants belong to someone. Rarely is that someone a cop.

Cook later returned her mom’s calls because there was still a little girl in her that wanted her mom to love her.

THE END!
