Days of Our Lives Monday, January 6 Recap: EJ Refuses To Release Rafe – Chanel Quits Body & Soul

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, January 6, show Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gearing) tied up and gagged in the DiMera tunnels when he gets a phone call from his mobile device, with Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) on the other line. He struggled to answer it with his foot but is stopped by EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) who enters the room and hangs up on Jada, just in the nick of time.

EJ visits Rafe and has breakfast, some eggs, and toast for his hostage. He removes Rafe’s gag from his mouth but warns there’s no use screaming for help, as no one can hear him.

Rafe questions why he’s there, and EJ explains that Arnold Feniger (Galen Gering) and Rafe himself are to blame for this situation. After all, EJ had told Rafe to leave the DiMera property, but Rafe had to stick his nose where it didn’t belong.

Rafe warns EJ about the trouble he is in by keeping him hostage. After all, his fiancé is the police commissioner; however, EJ assures him that Jada isn’t looking for him in the least.

Arnold paraded around as Rafe for a little bit, but he is now stashed in a motel nearby to lay low, and Jada has been told that Rafe is out of town working on a case for Black Patch.

Rafe reasons that he can’t keep him in the DiMera tunnels forever and tries to strike a deal where they both could work together to bring Arnold down, but EJ refuses.

EJ believes that Rafe will stay put until he figures a way out of this mess. After he’s done conversing with Rafe in the tunnels, EJ sends Jada a message from Rafe’s phone to ease her concerns – for the time being.

Meanwhile, Jada is in the Hernandez home enjoying a hot beverage, when Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) enters the room.

She tells him about the odd phone call she just had with Rafe, where he answered, but she only heard muffled sounds until the call dropped.

Javi tries to ease her concerns and changes the topic to her upcoming wedding. Jada stated she wants a simple affair, but Javi reminded her that the Hernandez family loves to go all out with these things and offered his help to make this a “splashy” affair”.

While Jada hesitates at first, she finally agrees. The topic turns to Javi’s love life and his failed relationship with Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), where Jada implies that perhaps Javi should give Leo another chance. But will he?

Speaking of Leo, he’s by his laptop at the Body and Soul offices when a ‘Lady Whistleblower’ imposter notification pops up.

Lady has some predictions for the head writer of Body and Soul stating that Leo lost his man in 2024 and will lose his job in 2025.

Across town, Chanel DiMera (Raven Bowens) is in Horton Square when she receives a call from Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). As he tries once again to apologize, she hangs up on him and catches wind of Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins).

Chanel marches over to Joy and gives her a piece of her mind. Even though Joy and Johnny didn’t do the deed, Chanel still feels utterly betrayed, thanks to all the lies.

Chanel reminded Joy that she helped her out so much when she was new in town.

Meanwhile, Joy reminded Chanel that there were countless times she tried to get out of plans, but Chanel would not take no for an answer.

While Joy did try to apologize multiple times Channel pointed out that Joy mainly kept quiet to keep her Body and Soul job – which says a lot about her as a person.
Joy asked if Chanel could ever forgive Johnny considering nothing really happened, and Chanel made it clear that she felt betrayed because of all the lies he had told.

Had he simply just come to her when he first thought she was cheating and learned the truth none of this would ever have happened.

As the two were bantering back and forth, Joy let it slip that EJ tried to pay her off to leave town, which only enraged Chanel that much more. She encouraged Joy to take EJ’s money and then stormed off.

Across town, Johnny dropped by the Body and Soul’s offices and had a chat with Leo.

Leo had a great storyline where Faith and Reagan were locked up somewhere as hostages to hash out their rivalry; however, Johnny nixed the pitch. He filled Leo in about the issues he, Chanel, and Joy were having and felt as if the situation was hopeless.

Leo assured Johnny that considering that ‘nothing’ happened between him and Joy, Chanel was sure to come around and forgive Johhny, but Johnny wasn’t so sure.

After getting off the phone with EJ and having a semi-civil conversation, Belle Black (Martha Madison) greeted her mom, who walked through the Black townhouse, coming home from a workout.

She filled her in on her new D.A. job; however, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) had some concerns. First and foremost was Belle working with her ex-hubby, Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer).

Belle was a bit worried too; after all, when they separated, she never anticipated that she’d have to see Shawn on a daily basis.

Just as the mother and daughter were conversing, Shawn appeared at the door. He learned about the news and thought Belle could get a leg up on her D.A. role by reviewing some cases.

The interaction was very positive between the exes, and Marlena even threw in that Shawn would always be considered a member of the family.

Still, after he left, Marlena reminded Belle to be careful where EJ was concerned and to not make the same mistake of getting involved with him, as she did the last time she was in town.

Back at the Body and Soul offices, Leo headed out, leaving Johnny alone. As Leo approached the town square, he came face-to-face with Javi.

Meanwhile, Chanel stormed into the Body and Soul offices during Monday’s show, catching Johnny completely off guard. She announces to him that she’s quitting the show.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say that Chanel may eventually forgive Johnny for his little night with Joy, but there will be a ton of drama felt throughout Body and Soul before this happens.
