In tonight’s Fire Country episode, Bode often helps out his parents’ bar. He really shouldn’t be there. He was an addict after all. Everyone was pretty much glossing over that after Bode got released from prison.
They knew how much it took to get released from prison and that he wouldn’t throw it away over nothing but Bode still has a bit of naughtiness to him. It’s why he flirts with Audrey. He knew better than to do that with a coworker. It didn’t work out so well when he ended up working with Gabriela. It won’t end well with Audrey either.
Bode also moved out of his parents’ place. He was now free to do whatever he likes with whomever he likes. He thought he was leaving other people’s judgement when he did that and he forgot about Jake.
Jake was the type of friend to hold someone accountable. He didn’t think Bode hooking up with Audrey was a great idea. He took Bode out on an exercise. He thought Bode getting away would help Bode refocus. Only their unluckiness worked against them. They went into the woods not long after a rockslide and found a victim.
The two of them needed to save a man that was practically buried under debris. What they really needed was backup and that wasn’t coming anytime soon. Eve put together a Reunion Express Program with Gabriela.
It was a program that allowed the prisoners’ children to come see them at the fire station. It was away from the prison. There were also games. It was a great opportunity for the kids to reconnect with their dads. Cole was glad to see his five kids. His daughters couldn’t wait to hug him and tell him they love him. It was just his son that was the problem.
Cole went to prison for killing someone. It happened at his son’s basketball game. His son missed a shot and another father got all up in the boy’s face. Cole had a temper back then.
He wasn’t going to let anyone degrade his son. He got into a fight with the other father. He pushed him. The man hit his head and died. Cole ended up going to prison because his “victim” knew people. People in power. The man’s family pushed for charges and they weren’t happy that Cole was at Three Rock. They tried to get him sent back to prison.
With all this animosity going on, Cole missed quality time with his kids. Girls are hard enough. It was the son that needed his father the most. Logan was at that age where he acts out. He didn’t want to hug his dad when he saw him. He also went to a supply closet and opened up an inflatable boat.
Cole made sure that Logan cleaned up the mess only nothing big could happen. The program was risky. They got Sharon to sign off on it by begging. She also let them knew that she’d them fire if anything went wrong.
Sharon was in a new phase in her life where she tries to stick by the book. She even told Audrey she couldn’t do her laundry at the firehouse. She instead offered Audrey the chance to do laundry at her house in exchange for watching Walter. Walter moved in not long after Bode moved out.
He was driving Vince up the wall. Vince wasn’t ready to parent his own father and now he has to do that because his dad was struggling with dementia. Walter mistook Audrey for Riley. It took him a while to remember that Riley died.
Dementia was the worst. It forced Walter to remember all the heartache. Vince hated seeing his father hurt and he had no idea how to fix it. Father and sons have a notoriously difficult relationship. Logan was acting out because he had no idea how to come out the closet. He didn’t know how his dad would react.
He got lucky when Eve offered to be there with him when he told his dad he was gay. Not that he needed it because Cole said the right thing when he was told. He told his son to love whoever he loves. He also taught his son some moves to work on this “Damon” from school.
Back in the forest however, the two men found the man trapped under the debris. His name was Rafael. They cleared him from the rocks. They got him out a’nd took him to a safer location away from any further rockslides. Bode injured his leg. He downplayed it and so Jake left him alone with Rafael. Jake had to do it.
He tried to get a signal on his phone. He wanted to call for backup. He also tried to reach their supplies back in the car. Jake was taking so long that any hope they had for Rafael went away.
Rafael knew he was dying. He asked Bode to tell his wife that it was okay to move on. To fall in love again. He was her first love and he didn’t want to be her last love. Rafael was a doctor. He went hiking by himself after he lost a patient. She was a little girl. Rafael blamed herself for her death. It made him question his faith.
He wanted to believe there was an afterlife and Bode reassured him that he believed in it too. Rafael ultimately died of his wounds. His death hit Bode pretty hard. It also affected Jake.
It reminded both men of who they lost. They made sure to contact Rafael’s wife. They also told the hospital that Rafael wanted to donate his organs. Bode and Jake went to his parents’ bar at the end of the day.
They ran into pretty much everyone. Eve, Gabriela, Walter, Audrey, and even Sharon and Vince were there. Everyone came together to be there for the guys.
Audrey also helped the Leones take a more recent family photo. Before that, their most recent photos were of Riley and she’s been gone for a long time and so Audrey helped create a good memory for Walter.
THE END!
