On tonight’s Fire Country episode, the Chezem Valley Fire was out getting out of hand. Bode and Audrey were surrounded by fire. They hid in a lake just to give themselves more time.
Audrey didn’t know how to swim. Bode had to hold onto her and he did his best to talk her through holding her breath.
It burned her lungs, but it gave her enough time to survive the fire. The helicopters carried out a water drop. It doused the fire that was closing in on them.
They now had extra time and they needed that to find help. Their radios were down. Their gear was destroyed. The best step forward was to separate.
Bode didn’t want to separate. He was worried about all the water that Audrey swallowed in the lake. He didn’t want her to dry drown. He wanted to stick together if her condition was worse off than they thought and so that’s when Audrey told him that he doesn’t always have to play the hero with her.
She reminded him that separating helps cover more ground. Bode didn’t like it only he finally listened to reason. They split up. Audrey found a tractor nearby with the keys still inside. She called out for Bode. They then hopped onboard until they finally reached someone on their radios.
Sharon heard the call come in. She told them to get back to base as fast as possible. She also left out the part she knew would concern Bode the most. She failed to tell him that Gabriela was missing.
Gabriela wandered off into the area. She walked off on the job. She didn’t want to talk to Jake about her problematic behavior and so she broke command. Something Sharon blamed Jake for.
Jake was her boss. He should have kept a closer eye on one of his firefighters in trouble. And to make matters worse, Manny broke parole by storming off after Gabriela.
Eve called Sharon about that on their cell phones. They couldn’t risk Manny breaking command to get overheard on the radios. It would result in Manny going back to prison and nobody wanted that.
Sharon blamed herself for both Manny and Gabriela getting in trouble. Manny had asked her to watch his daughter for him. It was what he did for her after all and yet Sharon couldn’t do it.
She let Gabriela continue to unravel. It was like no one remembered therapy anymore. Anyways, both Gabriela and Manny were going to be in trouble after this.
Trouble with Sharon if nothing else. Sharon later told Bode assist Jake. Bode still didn’t know about Gabriela and he had just put Audrey in a ambulance. Jake also chose not to tell Bode the truth.
They needed him focused on helping to saving Eve’s family’s farm. Sharon also put Jake in charge of the scene because she was going after their missing firefighters with her husband. Sharon didn’t tell Vince until they were already in the car what happened, but he quickly understood why it was their responsibility to save Manny and Gabriela.
Both of them saved Bode enough times that the Leones owned them this. Manny did find Gabriela. They reunited in the woods. Gabriela was injured and without her gear. They ran off to a nearby bathroom.
The bathroom was built out of bricks. They were stuck there and so they got to talking. Gabriela was angry at her father. She was angry he got arrested again. She was angry that he wasn’t there when she needed him the most. She blew up her wedding. She blew up her life. She really needed a dad to hold her hand through that because they both know her mom wasn’t built for it.
The two of them were finally talking through their problems when they heard a car alarm. Sharon and Vince took a car out into the area and they crashed. Vince then had the idea to set off the alarm so that Manny and Gabriela could hear them if they were nearby. It worked. Manny came to them.
They all went to Gabriela’s side. They set off a flare and Jake saw it with Eve and Bode. They had saved the farm by then. Eve’s history came in handy. She helped her father put in the irrigation system. And they needed that after they ran out of water.
Eve saved her family farm thanks to that knowledge. Her father in return agreed to help her go find her friends. Without their car, their friends had little chance of survival. Eve’s father coming through with the horses help them find everyone and bring them to safety. Manny, Gabriela, Vince, and Sharon all got to come home.
It was a tough day for everyone. It ended happily. The fire got under control. Bode also seemed to be finally willing to let go of Gabriela. He still cares about her, but he took flowers to the hospital to give them to Audrey. Not to Gabriela.
Gabriela visited her dad at Three Rock after she got a clean bill of health. The two of them continued their talk from earlier. Gabriela acknowledged that she hit rock bottom and that she was going to own up to walking off the job. She need consequences.
And Bode’s grandfather showed up. He didn’t know that Bode’s graduation happened over a week ago and so he either confused the dates or his memory isn’t what it was.
THE END!
