General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) will land in a fiery predicament when an explosion starts a blaze at Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) penthouse. Sonny will watch Michael go up in flames right in front of him, so he’ll be desperate to save his son as the action takes a shocking turn.
However, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will be the one who plays rescuer for Michael in the end.
After Jason escorts Sonny out, he’ll return for Michael and work to end this flaming nightmare.
The good news is that Michael’s life should be spared. The bad news is that Michael will no doubt have severe burns that cover most of his body.
GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini addressed the potential for a Michael recast on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Although Valentini acknowledged that there were no plans to recast the role at this time, he didn’t rule out the idea of recasting Michael in the future.
If Chad Duell returns somewhere down the line, Valentini seems like he’d be glad to have him back.
That said, a recast might be an option if Duell stays gone and the show ultimately needs Michael around again.
In that case, GH writers have created the perfect excuse for a change in Michael’s appearance.
It seems likely Michael will be shipped off to a special clinic as he recovers from his burns, so he should be all bandaged up by the time he leaves.
When Michael comes back down the road, he might have a totally different look due to all the facial reconstructive surgeries.
Those bandages could come off to reveal a handsome new actor underneath.
Naturally, the show probably won’t be in any hurry to recast based on Valentini’s comments and desire to leave the door open for Duell for a while.
That said, someone else could eventually step into Michael’s shoes and bring the character back for a new chapter.
Regardless, Sonny will stop at nothing to expose and take down the fire-starter, so we’ll bring you more predictions on what’ll happen after Michael’s departure.
