General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that the Thursday, January 9 episode offered some major drama. In the aftermath of Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) burning accident, it seemed that lawyers Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) and Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) had the same idea, which was to strike while the iron was hot and file papers for temporary custody of Wiley Corinthos (Vern Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko).
When Martin approached Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) about the idea, she thought the timing was terrible.
After all, how could she do something like this as Michael was fighting for his life?
Willow felt like her priority was ensuring her children’s father was okay first before diving into any custody strategy.
Still, as Michael was unconscious and in critical condition when Diane approached Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), she okayed the idea.
Much to Nina Reeves’s (Cynthia Watros) shock, Diane arrived at her penthouse, with the judge’s orders, to take the children.
Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) was the police representative, and the Quartermaine nanny was there too.
With that said, an interesting fact popped up earlier during the January 9th show about who holds the rights to Michael’s medical proxy.
Martin and Nina were both a little upset that Willow denied the temporary custody filing; however, the lawyer did say he had a plan B.
Martin noted that Willow still holds the medical proxy for Michael, and this could definitely be used as a negotiation chip if things got messy in the custody battle for Wiley and Amelia.
GH spoilers for Friday, January 10 suggest that Willow will be ready to take charge.
After arriving at the hospital to get an update on Michael during Thursday’s show, she got verbally torn to shreds by Michael’s sister Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), and once she finds out that Carly has taken the kids, it sounds like she’ll be ready to play hardball.
Willow will surely get filled in about being Micheal’s medical proxy, either by a hospital staff member or Nina herself.
As fans know the character is on his way out, and the probability is that Michael will need to head to a treatment facility to ensure a full recovery; however, he’ll also likely need his medical proxy to approve this type of treatment, and he may not be in a condition to make medical decisions for himself.
Could Willow use this as a bargaining chip against Carly? Would Willow threaten to withhold life-saving treatment for Michael to get her kids back?
Willow may state that she’s not signing off on anything until Wiley and Amelia are placed back in her custody, for the time being – at least until Michael is back on his feet.
General Hospital spoilers note that Carly will have quite the decision in front of her knowing that once she hands over Wiley and Amelia, she may not get to see the kids again for a long while.
But how can she let her son suffer and not get the best treatment possible, right away?
