In tonight’s Law & Order SVU episode, Jay Thompson may have been nine, but he even knows his sister disappearing wasn’t right. His sister was his guardian. Their parents died young and now they only have each other. His sister’s name is Kyra. Kyra told him she’d be working late.
She had a meeting and it was Jay’s understanding that his sister would be home by the next morning. Only she wasn’t. She was gone. She didn’t call or text. Jay also knew his sister wouldn’t abandon him. He started walking to the nearby precinct and a patrol officer spotted him.
The officer asked him why he wasn’t in school. Jay explained that his sister was missing and so she brought him to the SVU department. Jay got introduced to Captain Benson that way. She tried to calm him. She told him that there was nothing to worry about and Jay refused to be reassured. He was smart for a kid.
He kept pressure on the police to find his sister. He told them he doesn’t have any other family. There was no telling if he was telling the truth about that or if he was trying to stop them from dropping him off on a relative while they forget about his sister.
Jay stayed at the precinct. He made Benson promise that she would look for his sister. He got lucky because once Benson makes a promise, she never reneges.
Benson checked the nearby hospitals. It turns out Kyra had been admitted to one hospital for a possible sexual assault. She has a wound on the head. She was refusing to do a rape kit and so Benson showing up was exactly what she needed. She talked to Kyra. Kyra wasn’t blamed for what happened to her or that she left her brother overnight.
Kyra needed to hear those words. She needed to forgive herself because she thought what happened was her fault. Kyra works for an insurance company. Her boss finally gave her the chance to pitch a CEO. It was her, her boss, and the client at the hotel until the boss suddenly got a phone call.
He had to leave because his kid was having a medical emergency. He left Kyra alone with Jim Hogan. It wasn’t long after the boss left that Hogan sexually assaulted Kyra. Kyra didn’t like it. She ran into the bathroom to hide and was using her whole body weight to secure the door.
Hogan pushed in so hard that Kyra hit her head. She lost consciousness. She woke up to see the maid standing over here. The maids were coming to clean the room after Hogan checked out.
Hogan didn’t even check on her. He literally left Kyra for dead. Hogan was more concerned about himself and he proved that when he sent Kyra flowers at the hospital. Hogan also agreed to the deal she pitched at the hotel before he assaulted her. Kyra was given fifty grand commission for bringing in new business.
It made Kyra not want to press charges. She just wanted everything to go away, but she wasn’t sleeping after the incident. She didn’t feel like returning to work. She was a mess. Jay was so worried about her that he called the cops. They spoke to Kyra.
They helped her through her crisis and she agreed to press charges. Hogan’s DNA was found in her rape kit. They have enough to press charges against him when he then tells them that there was no rape. Hogan said that Kyra was part of the deal. She was the sweetener.
Kyra’s boss was a white collar pimp. Frank Bailey used attractive young woman to make deals. Hogan told the cops all about it and they confirmed it when they found the other victims.
Bailey had something on all of them. With Kyra, she accidentally lost two grand that Bailey’s assistant gave her to buy alcohol for the office party.
With another young woman, he found her nudes from /college. He threatened to tell her family about it. He also took pictures of those phones and used that to entice a new client into meeting her.
Bailey would also fire whoever didn’t agree to getting pimped out. The cops found plenty of victims. They all talked to ADA Carisi. Carisi was going to go after Bailey for multiple rapers and sexual assaults, but Bailey was a good salesman. He knows how to tell a story well. The same went for his lawyer.
The defense attorney reminded the jury that Hogan took a plea deal for sexual assaulting Kyra. He also reminded them all that Kyra accepted the fifty grand as her bonus. He acted as if she couldn’t claim rape if she benefited.
Kyra was the sole provider of the family. Her brother is nine. Kyra couldn’t afford to turn down that type of money. Not when Jay has college in his future. Kyra has to think about his future and anyways she wasn’t on trial.
It was Bailey who was on trial. He used woman like candy. Benson reached out to Bailey’s COO. Her name is Grace. Grace has been with the company for over twenty years. She was one of Bailey’s first victims. She went along with his plan because she didn’t want to lose her career.
Grace came forward though after Bailey lied on the stand. She told everyone that Bailey took the missing money out of Kyra’s purse and that she never actually lost the two grand.
Bailey just made her think that because he wanted her to feel desperate. He wanted to pimp her out and the plan didn’t work. With Grace’s testimony, Bailey found guilty of multiple cases of coercion. There might be a class action lawsuit after this as well.
Carisi also now has evidence that Bailey committed perjury and he was going to charge him for that too.
THE END!
