In tonight’s Survivor episode, David was voted out last week. The majority was against him. They thought David brought this onto himself. He tried to break a core alliance in the game and that same alliance targeted him. They easily took him out. They had the numbers. They were a group of a five out of eight people on the island.
They can easily take out everyone the bottom if the alliances doesn’t fracture, but this was Survivor 48. There was rarely an alliance that made it all the way. The five wants to stick together to the top five. And then they know exactly who targeted to make it to the top four.
Mitch thinks he’s a part of that alliance. He was funny. He was personable. Everyone likes him. They also would betray him at the first opportunity and his own friends said as much to him.
He just hadn’t caught it. The alliance was comprised of Joe, Eva, Kyle, Shauhin, and Mitch. Mitch was at the bottom. His friends secretly talk about ousting him once they were done using him. They openly discuss different people with the alliance going to the others to help them defeat whoever their target was. And Mitch didn’t realize that’s how they hooked him.
Mitch thought he was more powerful than he was. Star even came to him. She talked about a revolution. She said that the real issue was Joe, Shauhin, Kyle and Eva. They were the group.
They were targeting everyone else and that if Mitch really wanted to win – he’d target their alliance. He’d take out the strongest player with challenges. Joe! Mitch later admitted in his confessional that he’d listen to anyone else. He just wouldn’t listen to Star. She put his name down at the last tribal council. He let his pride blind him to the fact that Star was right.
Joe was too much of a threat. It was usually him or David that dominated at challenges. With David gone, there was no one that could stand up to Joe. Joe was also far too close to Shauhin.
Shauhin was probably the one guy he would never betray him. He’d soon turn on everyone else and Kyle should have realized that too. Kyle was approached by Kamilla. She tried to talk him into joining the revolution too. He was at least honest with her. He told her that he couldn’t turn on Joe. The two of them developed a friendship that he felt went beyond the show.
Kyle has told Joe stuff that he never told anyone else. He put his trust in Joe. Joe hasn’t betrayed him yet and that was enough for Kyle. He also felt that he’s burned too many people.
The ousted were ultimately coming back to vote for the winner. He didn’t want to turn anyone else against him in case he’d makes it to the end and he didn’t have the majority votes. Kyle knew that he was vulnerable. He was trying to change that. Mary wasn’t aware of her own position until she talked to Joe.
Mary was telling Joe how paranoid David had gotten towards the end. Joe told her that everybody voted out David because they felt Mary had poisoned him against them.
They liked David. They wanted to work with David. Until Mary got her paws on him. The word on the beach was that Mary was manipulating David the whole time. It was never just “David”. It was always “David and Mary”. Mary was a survivor and she was good at getting to people. She latched onto David. David was becoming a liability. And that’s why he got voted out.
Joe said all of this to Mary. He still wanted to vote her out eventually. Only he thought being honest with her as well as giving her advice would get him a vote when they pick the winner. His advice was telling her to build on her relationships. Mary knew that to be a lie. She had already talked to Eva.
Eva advised her to keep her head down because she was a possible target. She said she could make it further in the game if people forgets she’s there. Eva also told her that she would vote Mary out to go with the majority. Mary felt Eva was honest while Joe was merely pandering to her.
Mary fully turned against Joe after that. There was a rewards challenge. Kyle won it. He got to enjoy a real lunch with three others. He chose Kamilla, Eva, and Shauhin. Joe was his boy. Kyle does like him. He wasn’t ready to turn against but he didn’t tell Joe what Kamilla was planning either. Kyle likes playing with Kamilla.
He also knew she wouldn’t rat out that he knew about the plan against Joe. He let Kamilla take her shot. Kamilla didn’t approach anyone else until the Immunity Challenge. She knew her plan would never work if Joe won.
Which he did. Joe later won the Immunity Challenge. It threw everyone’s plans up in the air. Mitch wasn’t willing to stick his neck out for Star and earn Joe’s anger. He told Kamilla that they should play it safe.
Kamilla let it seem that others approached her with a plan to oust Joe. She agreed to go with Mitch because she didn’t have the numbers without him. Mitch felt they should vote Star out. It was the easy option. The others wanted Star out as well. Kamilla was telling Mary this when Mary said some stupid stuff. Mary suggested they go after Kyle.
Mary didn’t know how close Kyle was to Kamilla. Kamilla told the others what Mary said. Mitch told them what Mary said. Mary also tried to approach Shauhin with a plan to oust Star now until she could help take out Kyle or Eva later.
She turned everyone on that beach against her with her desperate acts. The core four had to discuss just sending her home. They were torn between her and Star. It wasn’t revealed who they chose. It took tribal council itself for some truths to get out there. Star brazened out. Mary tried to lie out of it.
In the end, it was Star that was voted out. She never played her shot-in-the-dark. Mitch told her to play it and she still wouldn’t do it. She said she couldn’t come from a place of paranoia.
But Mary’s days are numbered!
THE END!
