In tonight’s The Bachelor episode, the newest bachelor on the block was Grant Ellis. He’s a day trader from Newark, New Jersey. He has two loving parents.
Unfortunately, loving doesn’t always mean great or stable. His parents love him. They just weren’t the type to say the words to him. They also divorced when he was young because his father struggled with addiction. His father was in a better place now. He has a good relationship with his son now that he’s clean.
He was glad that Grant was representing the family well and it was Robert’s hope that Grant became a better father than he was. He knows that Grant wants to meet someone. He wants to create the family he lost out on.
The most crucial thing with Grant was that any woman he dates would also love what he loves. This included basketball. Grant loves basketball. He used that in childhood to escape all the yelling at home.
He then played basketball in both high school and college. He even played it professionally for a while until he found his place in the world as a day trader. He now plays just for fun, but any potential wife or girlfriend should probably enjoy the sport as well if they want things to work long-term.
Litia seemed to realize that when she learned Grant was the newest bachelor. She came prepared tonight. She came with a bejeweled basketball. She admitted she wasn’t good at the sport.
He’ll probably have to teach her how to play once they get to know each other and so she said he’ll bring the skills and she’ll bring the sparkle. She was very nice.
There was another woman that mentioned basketball only she showed she was a major LeBron fan. Grant seemed a little put off by that. She might have ruined her chances with him just from that alone.
Then there was a woman that came with a llama. She called it her “no drama llama”. Shew grew up on a farm and she was fine around animals. Only Grant has never been around animals.
He was a city boy. He actually warned the women that came after the llama that there was a llama in there. The poor animal traumatized Natalie who had a bad experience with llamas in childhood and seeing the animal again brought up bad memories. The llama thing was still unique even if it doesn’t leave a great impression.
There were other ways to grab his attention. One woman came up dancing to him. She loves dancing with her mom and she wanted dancing to be something she shares with her future partner. There was also one who grabbed his attention just because her dress was perfect for her body. Her name is Dina. Grant flat-out told her that she looked amazing. Dina was confident. She knew what she wanted. She told him from the start that them getting together would require him moving to Chicago to be with her. And that brings up the geography test.
For most of these bachelor/bachelorette relationships, it only works if one person is willing to move. They never just date someone who actually lives in the same state as them. Or someone who wouldn’t require them moving away from their family and support system. That would be too convenient for them. They instead put all their energy in a relationship with little chance of survival. They were plenty of Jersey Girls tonight and yet the one that will come to mind first will be Dina because of that dress.
There were others that left a good impression. There was a woman that came with a t-shirt gun. It shoots t-shirts and Grant loved playing around with it. There was one woman that literally came with a wedding cake. Some of these women were a little crazy. One woman created a whole wedding album of AI photos of her with Grant and she included photos of what she looked like pregnant. There was another that came with a wig. Grant wore it for their photos together. The wig lady also said outright that she was open to moving. She loves traveling and would be a great choice.
One woman spoke Spanish to Grant at the start. Don’t know why. Grant wasn’t fluent. He didn’t understand anything as she went off in Spanish. The translation from the show couldn’t keep up with her and so it wasn’t the best impression. She got lucky when she later made up for it. Her name is Carolina. She was able to connect with Grant later on when they talked. She was vulnerable with him. She cried in front of him and she flirted with him. She left a better second impression than she did the first.
Grant also kissed several of them. He kissed Juliana. She played the piano for him. She was super skilled and she kept things light and fun. Now, she might get in trouble when this episode airs. She called a woman that arrived late to the party and who interrupted Grant’s time with Dina – b*tch. She didn’t know that was Grant’s sister, Taylor. Taylor was a beautiful woman. The other women became jealous when she pulled up because they thought she was Grant’s ex and they were comforted by the fact that no, they weren’t going to have to share him with a latecomer.
Still, some of them might owe Taylor an apology. Taylor was a great sister. She gave them background on her brother. She told them that Grant dated a woman on and off for about seven years. He’s not quick to give up on people. He loves hard. He also has a bunch of cute baby photos that Taylor showed off to everyone. Taylor helped put the women at ease and they needed that. There’s been a rule change. The First Impression Rose now guarantees the first one on one date. The rose was brought out. It sat on a table and the women all had to walk by it.
Someone likened the experience of trying to catch Grant’s attention to the Hunger Games. The woman with the wedding cake carried said cake around. She planned on interrupting Grant’s time with some else and she walked in on him making out with someone else. It put her in such an awkward position. The show didn’t follow up on it, but did she back out of the room or what? Grant went on to talk to as many women as he could and there was one that stood out. It was Alexe. The woman with the no drama llama.
Alexe helped teach him a little French. She’s French-Canadian. She also seemed like a nice woman. She’s a Pediatric Speech Therapist. She displayed calm and confidence. She did so even as she taught him how to say he gives her this rose in French. Grant thought she’d be a great mother. He could see himself having a family with her. He chose to give her the first impression rose because llama danger aside – she was someone he could have a future with. Grant joined the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise because his mom signed him up. And he stayed with the franchise because he realized for himself that he was ready for love.
Grant was ready. His family was ready. Everyone wanted him to settle down. His mom was already talking about grandchildren and so that’s why children was something he mind goes to straight away. It also explains some of his choices tonight. Grant later handed out roses to women who wanted a future with him and who walked the fine line between sincere and try-hard. The woman with the wedding cake didn’t get chosen. The women that said Grant was her type and spoke of their future together like it was a merger also didn’t get a rose.
Even the woman that created a basketball jersey with their names also missed out on a rose, but tensions still rose at the house and this season will be full of drama.
