In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Sergeant Tim Bradford goes to a veteran support group. It helped him after he came back stateside. It also helped him through his recent breakup with Lucy and so they knew everything. They even knew about his recent hookup with Lucy. Tim thought what happened was a mistake.
He was beating himself up and the group reminded him that Lucy was an adult. If sleeping together was indeed a mistake, it was one they made together. Tim needed to stop blaming himself. He and Lucy have put in great effort to be at ease with each other. It was up to the both of them to overcome this latest backslide.
Anyways, the whole station was talking about Nolan. Not Tim and Lucy. Officer John Nolan was going through marriage troubles and everyone could tell. You know it’s bad when Smitty picks up o
t. Smitty! He was the dumbest cop around and he offered Nolan his divorce attorney’s card. He’s been divorced three times this past decade. The lawyer helped him through each one. Smitty gave an uncomfortable hug for Nolan and so that might be the kick that Nolan needed to make things up with Bailey.
Nolan technically wasn’t in the wrong with Bailey. She knew he was a cop when they got together. She knew that and still helped a hitman kill her ex-husband.
She committed a crime. It wasn’t just parking tickets or stuff that Nolan could laugh off. There were two people that were now dead. Nolan didn’t know if he should arrest Bailey or not and its not helping that she wasn’t in the least apologetic. She was fine with what she did. She would do it again if her ex-husband had survived. And that’s why she’s crashing at a friend’s house.
Nolan in the meantime tried to focus on his rookie. Officer Celina Juarez was coming off of probation. She was about to be a true cop and tonight was her last day. Both she and Nolan hoped it would go smoothly.
It ended up being a lot more dangerous than they thought. They found a van matching the description of a car fleeing a robbery. The van had broken down by the side of the road. The driver of said van was very handsome. Celina was too busy checking him out that she failed to notice his partner sneaking up behind her.
The men had just stolen a bunch of guns. Their van really did break down and so after the partner picked up Celina to throw her at Nolan – the two thieves stole the cop car. It was the only they could flee the scene.
It’s what they did next that was stupid. They didn’t check the cop car for tracking devices or anything. The cops easily found it again. They arrested the men that stole it. Mickey Barnes was one of the men. The other was Hammer. Mickey claimed they stole the weapons to potentially sell them to a man known as the Butcher.
Mickey and Hammer were low level crooks. The cops wouldn’t be changing the world by arresting them. They agreed to help the cops capture a much bigger fish and in return they got to skip prison. The detectives on the case came up with a plea deal with Wes. The men were going to be watched until they went to the buy to meet up with the Butcher. Nolan and Tim agreed to watch the men. Nolan didn’t have to worry about the wife and Tim didn’t have to worry about Lucy. It was their out just as much as it was for the crooks.
Lucy also had an issue to deal with. Lucy’s protégé came to her for help. Tamara was living with a roommate and the roommate’s boyfriend was handing out Xanax and ketamine for a first free taste. He gave a bag to Tamara. Tamara took it to Lucy right away. They both thought it would be perfect to catch the boyfriend selling drugs.
They needed someone to pass for a college student and that meant it couldn’t be Lucy. It had to be the new rookie, Seth Ridley. He’s had trouble with honesty before and Lucy wasn’t sure if she could trust him. And she put aside her own misgivings to make a case.
Seth was going to be Tamara’s fake boyfriend. He looked her age. It was easier for him to go undercover and so Lucy’s first mistake was including Smitty. Smitty told Seth that the case would become a bigger deal if they get the suspect to identify the drug supplier. So, Seth changed the plan.
He met with Javi. He talked him into setting up a meeting and that almost cost him his life. Seth didn’t go straight home after meeting the drug dealer. He went out for ice cream with Tamara. She posted about it on social media. Javi found Seth because of that post.
Javi and his friends surprised Seth. They told him that they could go for a little drive. Seth was forced to go with them and Tamara saved his life. She took a photo of the car Javi was driving. She called Lucy right away. Lucy set up a sobriety road test with a couple of beat cops. Javi was carrying lots of drugs.
He got arrested along with everyone in the car. Seth even got arrested for show. He was put in the back of a police car and Lucy told him to never go off script ever again. Meanwhile back at the safehouse, Micky tried to double cross the cops.
Mickey was willing to turn on them if the Butcher gave them a better deal. Only Hammer liked his current deal with the cops. It would set him up with a new life. Hammer helped the cops arrest Mickey again and the men went through the plan. Nolan was ready to go home again and he found Bailey there.
Bailey helped a woman running a battered women and children’s shelter. Some guy showed up threatening his ex-wife. The woman that ran place kept him outside and Bailey helped bring the man down. He got arrested.
And that’s when it came together for Bailey. Bailey has never named what Jason did to her. She didn’t think it abuse because he didn’t physically hit her and so talking with an expert helped her see that she was abused. She was emotionally abused. Its why she sought safety with a hitman.
Bailey finally talked everything out with her husband and they agreed to move on from what happened. The shelter also got a new recruit. Rookie Officer Mike Penn agreed to help with security when he’s off duty, but Lucy tried to warn Tamara about Seth and Tamara ignored her.
THE END!
