The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, January 10 states that the show opens with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) at the Abbott dining table enjoying some breakfast.
Jack wonders what Kyle is working on, and he presents him with an update on the sunscreen line – the very same product he had tried to steal from Jabot for Glissade, back when he was working with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
At the time, Kyle never admitted to stealing the information off of Diane Abbott’s (Susan Walters) laptop, but he confessed during Friday’s episode, and apologized.
While the three talked about how ugly it did get when they were all in a fight, they are all grateful to be back on the same page and ready to move forward.
Diane changes the topic and asks about Claire Newman (Hayley Erin).
While Jack was shocked to learn that she had spent the night, Diane was aware of this and wondered if Kyle had any plans to tell Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).
After some discussion, Kyle agreed that he’s over the moon about Claire, so maybe it’s time to fill his son in on his new relationship.
Over at Chancellor, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is listing off some action items she needs from Claire when her granddaughter realizes something is off.
Her mom told her about Ian Ward’s (Ray Wise) visit to the Newman Ranch, and Nikki fills Claire in on her past with Ian and some of the terrible things he’s done to her and the other Newmans.
Nikki warned Claire to be on high alert and not engage if she runs into him.
Nikki changes the subject to Claire’s recent report, and commends her on a job well done, and then decides both of them need a pick-me-up.
She asks Claire to organize a Chai Latte, but instead of getting it delivered, Claire decides to take a walk to Crimson Lights.
Speaking of Crimson, Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) is behind the counter of the coffee shop and is leaving a voicemail message to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) desperately asking her to reach out.
Jordan (Colleen Zenk), decked out in a disguise, approaches her asking if she’s okay, but she’s really just looking for dirt on Sharon’s investigation and if the police have discovered anything new.
Jordan offers to help in any way she can; however, while Esther appreciates the notion, there’s nothing that can be done.
Jordan then orders two beverages, one of them being an oolong tea, with very specific instructions, and then goes to sit on the patio.
As she’s waiting for her order, and staring at photos of Claire with Kyle, Claire walks into Crimson.
She engages in a little small talk with Esther, and then Esther tells Claire that she will take her order once she delivers the two drinks she has in her hands.
Esther walks over to Jordan, restating the two drink orders as Claire is playing on her phone, but as soon as she gets to the oolong tea, Claire freezes and immediately runs out to the patio, just as Jordan is exiting.
As she gets off the elevators at Chancellor, Claire is still clearly disturbed.
She gets a call from Kyle, asking to meet at Society to talk about telling him that they are an item, which seems to brighten her spirits a bit, but not completely.
When Claire enters Nikki’s office, her grandmother can tell that she’s upset about something, and she reveals that Esther read out a drink order that matched the way Jordan used to drink her tea, which is very specific.
Nikki tried to brush it off and she reassured her that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was on top keeping them safe and protected.
Over at the motel room, Jordan storms in screaming and looking for Ian, but he’s nowhere to be found.
She believes there’s a chance that Claire caught her, and she becomes quite annoyed that he’s not there – he hasn’t even left a note.
Jordan thinks they should change locations. She also questions if she’s going to see them start working on her end of the plan.
She has flashbacks of encounters with Claire over the past year, and then determines that it’s time to take matters with Claire into her own hands.
Danny Romalotti (Michael Damien) and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) meet for one last lunch at Society before Danny heads back to his world tour.
Danny begs Daniel to join him and Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) on tour, and to bring Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) along.
As tempting as the offer seems, Daniel believes that they need to get adjusted to their new normal and try to get into some sort of schedule, as hard as it will be.
Meanwhile, Abby Abbott-Newman-Hamilton-Winters (Melissa Ordway) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) talk about Sharon and Tessa’s freak medical emergency on New Year’s Eve.
Abby drives home the idea that Ian can’t be trusted, but Tessa seems to feel a bit bad for him and his circumstances.
Of course, Ian spots the two from afar, goes into Society and listens in on their conversation from behind a post, and pops in to join them.
He continues on with the same message of how sorry he is about what he’s done and how he’s looking to make amends; however, Abby is outraged and declares she is kicking him out of Society, and he is no longer welcome there.
Oddly, Tessa seems to feel bad for him, as she’s clearly buying his story, but Abby warns her that for Mariah’s sake, she needs to ensure that Ian doesn’t get under her skin.
Danny and Daniel end their lunch and share one last hug.
After Danny leaves, Daniel and Tessa catch up and talk about how weird the new year has been. Could these two be inching closer to each other?
Lastly, after Kyle leaves for the office, Diane and Jack talk about him and Claire, and while they both like her, Diane worries that Victor will become a factor in their relationship and hopes he doesn’t cause issues in their romance.
The Young and the Restless spoilers note that this statement is foreshadowing what’s to come for Claire and Kyle, as Victor will be one person who causes obstacles in the Claire and Kyle romance come the new year, along with Summer Newman (Allison Lanier).
