General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) fans have a reason to celebrate since his first airdate is officially July 13, 2026.
Multiple sources confirm that Burton returned to the studio on June 1, which marked his first official day back on the job following his hiatus.
This is great news for viewers who have been waiting for word on Steve Burton reprising his role as Jason.
Burton made it back to the ABC soap just in time to help celebrate filming its 16,000th episode, so that’s certainly exciting to hear.
The show rep confirmed that Finola Hughes has already been back filming as Anna Devane as well, which Chris McKenna (Jack Brennan) previously teased on social media.
Hughes was also on hand for the 16,000th episode celebration along with plenty of other cast members.
That 16,000th episode is set to air on July 13.
As for Jason, he’s currently trapped as a WSB black site in Jakarta – at least based on the intel that Brennan was able to uncover.
GH fans will recall that Jason decided to take the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) after he shot Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), but now Cullum has put it together that Rocco is to blame instead.
Although Rocco is on the run with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), you can bet that Cullum will be on their trail.
However, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has tasked Brick (Stephen A. Smith) with tracking Britt and Rocco down, so we’ll see who gets to them first!
In other words, there’s been a lot happening in Jason’s absence.
Now that there’s confirmation on Steve Burton getting back to filming, we can go ahead and start thinking about Jason’s upcoming on-screen return.
Jason will inevitably score his freedom one way or another and return to Port Charles, where Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) has been putting himself in some dangerous situations without him.
Danny could definitely use his father’s guidance again, so that’s something Jason will have a chance to work on when he gets back.
Of course, many viewers are wondering what the future holds for Britt and Jason’s romance, especially considering she’s running without her life-saving medication at the moment.
