In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Rodger’s tour was ending. He was coming home. His girlfriend wanted to get him a special crystal. Celina was very new age. The crystal was to protect him. Her roommate went with her to see the witch and unfortunately they ran into a disgruntled customer.

He accused the witch of selling him a fake love potion. He said it didn’t work and he wanted his money back. He also seemed to want revenge. He was threatening to slap her when the cops intervened and the witch threw a curse at him.

Celina hid behind Miles during the curse. The curse hit him as well as the disgruntled customer. Celina was beating herself up later because she couldn’t believe she hid behind her roommate. She was a cop and she felt she should’ve been braver. Only she was right to hide from that curse.

It quickly took effect. Miles got elbowed to the eye when he stepped between the witch and her prey. He soon accidentally maced himself at the station. He went on to search a suspect’s pocket and he got bit by a spider.

The curse was real. The only one not effected was Celina because even that customer from earlier got his. He called 911 because he chipped his tooth getting out of bed.

His ceiling fan came down on him. It gave him a cut to the head. He ran several blocks from a pack of stray dogs. He wanted to lift the curse. Celina was the officer that took the call and she was honest with him. She told him to go back to the witch. She said his best bet was to apologize and offer her money to lift the curse. And he was about to do it when he got hit by a truck.

That man was dead.

Celina saw it happen. She became incredibly worried about Miles. He was more than a roommate. He was a friend and she wanted to protect him. She felt bad she ducked when he needed her most. Now, she was worried that he might die. She freaked out and that sweet guy from TID offered her some empathy.

Though he might not be so sweet because he did look into her. He found out she got two accommodations in the past year and it was a thin line between sweet and stalking if he accessed her police file to get that information.

Celina quickly forgot about it after she heard that because again she felt bad about Miles. She begged him to go back to the witch. It was kinda important because he was allergic to spiders. His reaction to it made his arms swell. He tried to take a Benadryl to deal with it and it wasn’t kicking in. Bailey had to treat him. While she was there, she finally talked to her husband. They both had an arson case. Someone was setting fires to things expired by the ballet. This included Swan Lake. Miles was the first put it together because they have the arts in Texas too.

Bailey thought the arsonist could be someone named Arnold McKenna. He usually sets the fire this one was created. There was just one issue. He’s never been the romantic type and he was in police custody when the next fire occurred. Which led the cops to believe he either has an accomplice or a protégé. The shift from hell finally ended because that’s when Wesley had his fundraiser. Nolan hosted the event because his place was bigger. He even has a backup generator to keep the AC going if the city experienced a blackout.

Nolan and Bailey also finished their conversation. She was going to turn down the job in DC. She loves Nolan. He’s the guy that stuck with her through secret marriages and everything Jason threw at them. He sacrificed for them so now she was sacrificing for them too. They were staying in LA. Bailey realized how much bravery it took for Nolan to say he wanted to stay and she respected him far too much to ignore it. They were staying. Wesley was also blowing up in the media because of that fundraiser. Not for reasons he wanted.

Wes was finally bringing Liam Glasser to court, but there was a problem. He couldn’t prove all the murders were committed by him and so he chose try him only for the crimes he has evidence on. One of the fathers of the victims not getting his day in court then crashed the fundraiser. He tried to attack Angela and Wes knocked him out. It was caught on several cell phones. Wes was getting credit for defending his wife. He was even hearing from people on the other side of the political aisle.

The one person not at the fundraiser was Detective Harper. This Liam Glasser case was going to be an uphill battle. Harper threatened Glasser before she got evidence and she said something might’ve implied she was going to plant evidence on him. It tainted her testimony. Wes had no choice than to file an IA complaint. She needed to be cleared if she was going to be used at trial. It created tension with his wife who was Harper’s best friend. It forced the two detectives to keep things professional and that one was going to hurt for the besties.

Everyone had returned to work the next day. They found out that Arnold wasn’t responsible for the fires. He shared his method with this woman he was trying to impress and that woman’s girlfriend then set the fires to impress her. Well, Arnold just couldn’t accept Mandy was a lesbian. He firebombed the police station after she got arrested with her girlfriend. He tried to kill everyone just to kill her. It landed him in jail facing a terrorist charge. And Many survived alongside her girlfriend.

There were several injured police officers. Like Miles. The curse really went to town on him and so it’s a good thing Rodger came back to town early because Rodger paid the witch a thousand bucks to lift the curse. He was a good boyfriend.

And Celina did clear up the misunderstanding with Gilmar from TID. He thought she was interested and she made it clear that she was not.

THE END!
