In tonight’s Welcome To Plathville episode, Ethan moved back to Wisconsin. His new place was a little bare. His mom drove up to see him. She also brought along things to decorate his home.

Kim came fully prepared. Ethan said that’s how she expresses love, but there was another reason for her driving up. She wanted to know what was happening with Teegan. Teegan and Ethan were no longer together. Ethan was struggling with that one. He still wanted to be friends. He wanted to be something to her and that’s what made the Montana trip so awkward.

Ethan at least got invited. Zac and Lydia didn’t receive an invite. They still had to work and the trip was a little last minute. Only Zac would’ve still liked to have been invited.

Lydia’s brothers didn’t seem to care for him. They thought he was gay. They didn’t want Lydia to marry him. The one person that didn’t agree was his father-in-law. Barry liked Zac. He jokes around him. He even shared a small sauna with him on tonight’s episode. Barry loved his son-in-law’s commitment to the faith. His sons were a different matter.

The sons were all rebelling in their own way. Ethan can’t seem to make a relationship work. He got divorced. He met Teegan and he hoped she’d be different until they ended up breaking up as well. Now, Kim was hearing that Ethan spent the whole Christmas holiday waiting in his car for Teegan to show up.

She never did. Kim was thinking this was a red flag. She thought Teegan was hurting her son so that was the other reason she drove up. She began asking about Teegan. She wanted to know where they are now in the relationship.

The most she could get out of Ethan was that they were friends now. He wouldn’t give his mother anything else because he didn’t want her sharing that information with the rest of the family. Or telling him an “I told you so” if he ended up moving back to Georgia. He moved to Wisconsin for Teegan.

He just wasn’t doing much work on himself to show he’s changed. Teegan’s version of Christmas was that Ethan grabbed a plate of food from her house and then quickly left. Teegan also said that he doesn’t reach out to her on the days she has off. He doesn’t seem like he wants the relationship.

Which makes him moving even odder for her. She doesn’t know what compelled him or why he was staying. He has shown no signs of maturity since they last met. He moved up there and then kinda dropped the ball. Kim was a lot of things, but she easily picked up on the problems when Teegan later came over to Ethan’s place.

Ethan suddenly wanted to bake cookies with Teegan. He bought box mix. He said the last time he baked was with her. Then they had to wait for the cookies to bake in the oven and he just sat there. He said nothing to her. There was barely any conversation until Kim showed up.

Kim could feel the tension when she entered the room. The two had been talking about Teegan’s car because that’s all Ethan could bring up. He was a car guy. They were having a conversation going nowhere when Kim walked in. Ethan then decided to give both women the chance to talk to each other. He actually left just to supposedly give them this time. You know what Kim took from the conversation. She figured out that Teegan needs more than a geographical location to have anything to do with Ethan again. She needed growth. She needed signs of maturity since they were last together.

Kim figured that out after five minutes. What was Ethan’s excuse? Lydia later came up to Wisconsin to help Ethan and to drive back down with Kim.

Kim and Lydia spending eighteen hours on the drive didn’t sound like fun. Especially as their relationship hasn’t been the easiest. Kim hadn’t wanted Lydia to marry Zach either. There was also other stuff that Zac alluded to. It turns out that Lydia posted online how sad she was still was about losing Joshua and she felt she hadn’t been equipped to deal with the grief back then.

Kim was a little hurt by that. She was still grieving her son. Joshua was a little when his mom accidentally ran over him. She had just seen him so she thought it had been safe. The fact she lost Joshua was something she always blamed herself for. So, she wasn’t quite enthused hearing she had more faults from the fallout of that day. It wounds Kim that Lydia was opening up to the internet and not to her.

The troubles between mother and daughter doesn’t look it will resolve itself. It has on the other hand brought Zac and Barry closer.

THE END!
