Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are unfortunately not getting back together. Nina has moved on with Derek Hough, and Ian will probably end up with a rebound sooner or later. However, that doesn’t mean that Nina and Ian can’t remain on good terms, right? They are still co-stars, and they are still playing lovers on The Vampire Diaries, no doubt making many sets days awkward. The more comfortable they are with each other, the more comfortable everybody else will be.
Of course, a public sign in Nina and Ian’s friendship is the fact that Nina retweeted Ian yesterday, after months of more or less avoiding him on Twitter. Ian first tweeted, “@iansomerhalder: R U READY!!!! #TVD ¡mañana!…” and Nina then retweeted, “Yessssummmm he’s right! Tomorrow is #TVD day! S**** about to get real!”
Well, does this count? It’s about their job, and they’re probably contractually obligated to tweet about it, right? So if it’s part of their job, could it be counted as friendship? Sure, it still means something that Nina decided to re-tweet Ian, but probably not much. I have a feeling they’re trying their best to remain professional and put on a strong front, but they did just get out of a long, long relationship. There’s only so much they can pretend without making it seem ridiculous.
Besides, Nina is happy now with Derek. All is well, as long as Ian doesn’t get insanely jealous and do anything he regrets – which will probably not happen.
