Gwyneth Paltrow‘s war with Vanity Fair seems to have taken a break, especially since we haven’t gotten any new updates over the last month. We know VF is not stepping down, since their editor pretty much stated that they were going through with the issue no matter what. Now, according to Star Magazine, Gwyneth is planning to take down the annual star-studded Vanity Fair Oscar party in retaliation.
I think it’s pretty much a given that we won’t see Gwyneth at this year’s party, despite the fact that it’s usually the #1 destination for all A-listers after the Oscars and the Governor’s Ball. According to Star, Gwyneth also has a ‘spiteful plan‘ to ‘ruin’ VF’s Oscar party.
A ‘source’ tells Star, “Gwyneth is hoping to host a bigger, better and more star-studded bash than Vanity Fair’s celebrated bash. She’s working around the clock to enlist her friends to attend and boycott the Vanity Fair soiree.”
You know, this wouldn’t be very surprising if it turned out to be true. I don’t know if it’s necessary ‘spiteful’, but hosting a party to counter Vanity Fair’s party is definitely something that Gwyneth would do, instead of accepting that she ‘lost’. That being said, Gwyneth is powerful, sure, but not THAT powerful. Vanity Fair is still the place that all the executives, studio heads, managers, agents, and most actors and actresses end up after Oscar night – and Gwyneth simply won’t be able to coax the majority of them away.
But then again, if Vanity Fair goes through with their expose, there’s a strong chance it could hurt her marriage [if the cheating allegations with Jeff Soffer are true] and her career. So if she’s seriously considering retaliation, I doubt Gwyneth would go for something so small.
