Tonight on Showtime their fiercely engaging and fearlessly twisted series SHAMELESS airs with its season 4 premiere called, “Simple Pleasures.” Season 4 begins with a drug-addled and deathly ill Frank reappearing. Meanwhile, Fiona cares for the household and works at Worldwide Cup with her boyfriend boss Mike Pratt, and attempts to connect with Debbie and Carl, who are dealing with the upheaval of their adolescent hormones.

Chicagoan Frank Gallagher is the proud single dad of six smart, industrious, independent kids, who without him would be… perhaps better off. When Frank’s not at the bar spending what little money they have, he’s passed out on the floor. But the kids have found ways to grow up in spite of him. They may not be like any family you know, but they make no apologies for being exactly who they are.
On tonight’s episode As we catch up with the Gallagher clan, Fiona is dividing her time between caring for the household and working at Worldwide Cup with her boss/boyfriend Mike Pratt. While her job and relationship are going smoothly, life at home is thrown into a state of upheaval with the reappearance of a drug-addled and deathly ill Frank. With Lip off at college and Ian still missing, Fiona attempts to connect with Debbie and Carl, who are dealing with the upheaval of their adolescent hormones (or lack thereof).

RECAP: It starts off with Fiona and Debbie getting ready for the morning in the bathroom, brushing their teeth, applying makeup and etc. It then cuts to them both trying on clothes seeing what they should wear for the day; Fiona asks Carl if he’s a got a shirt for her to wear for the game today, Carl doesn’t but he mentions he’s got a shirt that could be good for her. Fiona ignores him and says good morning to her little brother. Fiona then walks out and sees Debbie who’s going out wearing her boots, she asks about where she’s going and Debbie only replies with out and goes to the washroom. Carl wants to use the washroom, but he can’t go in due to Debbie just going in; so he decides to take a leak from the window. Shelia arrives with dip, Carl asks Fiona why Shelia is here; she says at least the clothes are clean. Debbie and Carl are being rude to their older sister, Debbie goes up stairs and Carl follows. Fiona visits Veronica; Veronica is talking to a man with a pony tail and telling about her maternity. The pony tail guy says they can’t afford the maternity ward so Veronica will need to have the baby at home.
They talk about Fiona about the guy she’s recently seeing and how far they’ve gone, and then their conversation leads to Frank and the pony tail mentions how he’s like a cockroach. The police make a bust in a house that looks abandoned with boarded windows and stuff, but it looks like there’s a bunch of people living there. One of the cops fined Frank who’s lying down on a sleeping bag with drugs next to him. Debbie takes her little brother to Mandy’s house, she asks Mandy about where Ian is, but she has no idea where he is. Mandy goes back to her home, the people at the table are talking about their business of being pimps of woman what and ask a girl if she’s made money from sleeping with these numbers of guys. Drew comes back into his dorm; there is a guy on a chair working on his computer and a girl on the bed. The girl and guy leave for their study group, while Drew stays and smokes. Mike comes to the door and sees Carl, Carl calls for his sister Fiona, Mike notices that Carl is watching SAW on a Sunday and makes a comment about it. Carl then asks if he’s ever stolen a car and if Mike is his real name, Fiona comes down and her, Mike leave.
Debbie is with her friend Holly; they’re selling their virginity on the internet. They’re deciding to dress slutty and go to the local arcade. Carl is watching T.V. someone arrives at the door and is knocking, it’s the cop who found who found Frank and brought Frank with him. The cop asks where Fiona is, Carl tells him that she’s with some guy named Mike at a game. The cops tell Carl good luck and leaves. Mike is eating the dip that Shelia brought to the Gallagher home. Their talking about Mike being Funniest Home Videos when he was younger. Fiona takes a piggy back ride on Michael during the game and is doing something. Carl shows Shelia Frank, they decide to carry him somewhere else. They’re now trying to drag Frank out of the room, and into the bathroom to put him in the bathtub. Debbie and her friends are at the arcade dressed slutty, they see two guys that their interested in playing some game; they both decide to play Dance Dance Revolution of some sort to grab their attention. The two guys do take notice and show up and talk to them, they introduce themselves and they hit it off well.
Carl and Shelia decided to give Frank three baths. Drew is working at a cafeteria, he’s walking around and doing his job cleaning tables and then bringing the dishes to the back for some cleaning. Drew has a problem with smoking, he’s smoking on the job and his co-worker warns him that he shouldn’t be caught with it. Then Drew offers him a smoke he accepts but declines Drew’s invite to hang out. Fiona arrives home and finds Carl outside; Carl tells Fiona that Tony brought Frank back and that he’s really sick. Fiona wants to get rid of Frank, while Carl wants to take care of Frank; Fiona tells Carl that Frank is his responsibility if he wants to keep him here. Frank heard the whole conversation and thanks Carl. Debbie is still with Holly and her other friend; they’re still talking to the guys, but are at a bowling alley now. The guy asks if Debbie wants a ride home, she seems to accept it. Drew is trying to sleep, but his roommate and his girlfriend are being too annoying and loud. Fiona goes to check on Debbie, but finds that her door is locked and she tells her goodnight and walks away. Debbie is texting the guy she recently met at the arcade throughout the night. Fiona wakes up Carl to get ready for school; she notices Frank in the bed lying down and sighs. Frank gets up and talks to his son about “enjoying himself while he’s awake” due to his son having a wet dream. Frank tells Carl that he needs some alcohol to get him going, because to him that’s fuel.
Carl says that there’s something in his orange juice, Fiona tells him that it’s pulp; Carl then asks if Debbie has gone to say hi to her dad Frank yet, because he’s home. Fiona gives Carl and Debbie some money to buy them lunch, Shelia arrives and is ready to clean today; Fiona asks how Frank is doing. Carl tells her he still can’t walk yet, Carl wants to know what he should do if Frank’s got to go to the washroom; Fiona hands Carl a bucket. Slicked back pony tail guy is working at the bar, one of the pimp guys are there and starts talking about his business with the pony tailed bar tender. The bar gets a call for Mr. Phillips, turns out that Stan is sick; he’s the man who owns the bar. Everyone drinks to Stan. Veronica wanted to be pregnant for so long, but wasn’t able to do so; but it turns out that she’s finally gotten pregnant and is completely shocked about it. Fiona walks into work and sees a bouquet of flowers on her desk, one of her co-workers tell Fiona that everyone knows that Fiona is dating Mike since a picture on instagram was seen of the two of them at the Bear’s game.
A woman asks if Fiona wants to put a part of her salary into a fund that’ll be saved for when she retires. Drew asks the T.A. of his class why he got a D on his paper, the T.A. tells Drew that his paper sucked and that’s why he got a low grade on it. T.A. said that in the paper Drew danced around and tried to be clever, but he failed. The T.A. asks why Drew is in the class, Drew tells him the truth and the T.A. tells shim to do better than the crap he’s given. Slicked back pony tail guy goes to visit Stan in the hospital, but it turns out that Stan is already dead. He goes to complain about Stan already being dead, the nurse working their tells him sorry for his loss and seems to not care too much. Carl finds Shelia cleaning the bathtub, he asks how Frank is doing and then he goes to see Frank for himself. Carl gives Frank the things he wanted, Frank asks Carl to find alcohol for him. Sheila asks how Frank is doing, he replies with good. Debbie is walking to go meet up with the new guy she’s recently seeing; but before seeing him she dresses up a bit more to impress him.
Veronica tells Fiona that she’s pregnant; Fiona receives a text from Mark to go to his place and celebrate being together for a while. Veronica tells Fiona to go see Mike and that she’ll watch the kids tonight, it’ll be good for her to have some practice with kids. Sheila walks down and says she’s going to make the kitchen her bitch next time she’s here. Fiona asks if Veronica has told Kev about the baby, she hasn’t yet. Fiona notices that two bottles of wine are missing, and wonders if they’ve already finished the wine. Drew is looking over his paper, he hears a weird noise and then everyone around him freezes in place, he gets up throws out his paper and walks away. When he’s gone everyone starts moving again, Mandy is looking at old pictures of her and Drew. A woman makes herself dinner, she sits down at the dining room table with her meal and begins to pray; it looks like she’s eating alone. What a lonely atmosphere. Fiona and Mike end up having sex; Mike thanks her after it and says that she’s great. Mike gets out of bed to get a bottle of champagne, Fiona is reluctant because it’s a school night, but she gives in and agrees to have one glass. Debbie gets back from a date with the guy she’s recently seeing, they both tell each other that they like one another and it gets slightly awkward. Kev shows up at the Gallagher home to find Veronica watching the kids, he then tells her Stan died. Veronica is shocked; Kev now needs to choose a casket and everything for his funeral. Debbie says good night, but before leaving the car she kisses her date on the cheek. Debbie gets in the house and walks up stairs, Veronica greets her; then Veronica decides to break the news to Kev that she is now pregnant. Kev is surprised and can’t believe that they’ll be having twins. Frank finds himself a bottle of beer, he decides to spray some PAM into his mouth then drink the beer. It doesn’t good to well and Frank ends up spitting out his beer. Fiona walks up stairs and sees Frank sleeping, and then she walks off into her own room.
