Juan Pablo Galavis must have realized he put his foot in it with his anti-gay rant earlier. The newest Bachelor contestant has set down for an interview with The TV Page when he inappropriately made judgments on the LGBT community. However we should clarify that it wasn’t just that Juan didn’t approve of homosexuals that made his comments offensive. Juan crossed many lines when he called Homosexuals “pervert.” He didn’t have to go there and yet he did. Juan decided to tag a large population of people in with the same terminology used for sex offenders. That’s one reason we have a problem with him and why no one wants to accept his half-assed apology!
The apology is nothing more than a way for him to appease his fans and ABC studios. According to Michael Fairman: ABC and Warner Horizon studio this morning came out and bashed The Bachelor and did not stand by their man, instead issuing this statement, “Juan Pablo’s comments were careless, thoughtless and insensitive, and in no way reflect the views of the network, the show’s producers or studio.” The great star of their show suddenly was left floundering without any chance of back-up from them so of course Juan made an apology! He took to Facebook to make an official statement and to be blunt he might have made his situation worse than better. Below is the full statement. Please see for yourself!

I want to apologize to all the people I may have offended because of my comments on having a Gay or Bisexual Bachelor. The comment was taken out of context. If you listen to the entire interview, there’s nothing but respect for Gay people and their families. I have many gay friends and one of my closest friends who’s like a brother has been a constant in my life especially during the past 5 months. The word pervert was not what I meant to say and I am very sorry about it. Everyone knows English is my second language and my vocabulary is not as broad as it is in Spanish and, because of this, sometimes I use the wrong words to express myself. What I meant to say was that gay people are more affectionate and intense and for a segment of the TV audience this would be too racy to accept. The show is very racy as it is and I don’t let my 5 year old daughter watch it. Once again, I’m sorry for how my words were taken. I would never disrespect anyone.

How did he confuse “pervert” with too affectionate? English may be his second language but insensitivity seems to be his first! In his first statement he said he didn’t think it was OK to show gays on The Bachelor because it wouldn’t be fair for kids to see that and now his story has changed. Kids shouldn’t watch the show at all, but homosexuals should still be banned. Somewhere within his reasoning; he’s claiming gays are too affectionate for TV! Wow! Seriously, It almost left me speechless – almost!
We are talking about The Bachelor, right? The show that surrounds one person with a harem to toy with/ make-out with/ and sometimes hookup with! On what moral grounds can the show stand on? Juan seemed like a very nice man but if he can’t stick to his own convictions then he should at least stop talking. He’s only making his position worse by uttering nonsense. Juan doesn’t like that lifestyle and he doesn’t want it on TV. No public statement or PR will save him so he should just fess up to the facts!
