Real Housewives of New Jersey Teresa Giudice Sentenced to 15 Months in Prison, Joe 41 Months – Staggered For Children's Care

Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe Giudice pled guilty to multiple counts of fraud early in 2014, and we have spent the better half of the year speculating as to whether or not the reality TV couple would be going to prison. After weeks of delaying the inevitable, and a few delayed court dates, Teresa and Joe Giudice finally went before the judge on October 2 to learn their fate.

After hours of court proceedings and a full-blown media circus, the judge announced that Joe Giudice would spend 41 months in federal prison. After Joe’s sentencing, the judge agreed to stagger his and Teresa’s sentences so that one of them would be able to stay home and care for their four children while the other was in prison. Teresa took the stand and read a heart-felt letter she had prepared, apologizing for the millions of dollars she and her husband scammed from numerous banks and lying about their assets, and then the judge took a five minute break to decide Teresa’s fate.

Teresa Giudice was confident that she wouldn’t go to prison, and even bragged to her friends and family that she would most likely receive a few months of house arrest. But, it turns out Teresa was in complete denial, because when the judge returned to the court room to announce Teresa’s sentence it was way more severe than a few months of house arrest. Teresa Giudice was sentenced to fifteen months in prison!

Although news is still breaking on the Giudice Family’s case, we can say for sure that both Teresa and Joe are going to prison and paying over $400,000.000 in restitution. It is still unclear whether Joe or Teresa will go to prison first, and when they will be turning themselves over. Are you shocked that Teresa and Joe both received lengthy prison sentences? Do you think that the judge went easy on them, or didn’t go easy enough on them? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
