Tonight on CBS Person of Interest continues with an all new Tuesday February 10, season 4 episode 14 called, “Guilty” and we have your recap below. On tonight’s episode, Finch [Michael Emerson] suspects that a fellow juror is trying to rig the proceedings in a murder trial. Meanwhile, Reese [Jim Caviezel] begins to open up to the department’s therapist.
On the last episode, Reese and Root’s hunted for Shaw who took them to a small town in upstate New York where it became apparent that not everything is as idyllic as it seemed. On tonight’s episode as per the CBS synopsis, “when the Machine arranges for Finch to sit on the jury of a murder trial, he begins to suspect that a fellow juror is set to rig the proceedings. Meanwhile, Reese begins to open up to the department’s therapist.”

Harold and Reese meet up and discuss that they’re short handed but Reese doesn’t want to bring anyone else into it. Harold says it’s back to being just the two of them. Harold is waiting on jury duty selection. A woman approaches him and says she was a teacher for 41 years but retired. He opens his laptop and then he sees that he didn’t get to the jury selection program in time to excuse himself. He gets called in along with Emma the teacher. One juror, Rollins, says he hates cops. Another woman says she needs a financial hardship.
Harold says he has no objections to the case except that they are being watched by a supercomputer that’s taking over the world. Harold is just about ready to leave when one juror’s cell phone rings playing Super Freak and he’s kicked out for contempt. She tells Harold to take the empty seat. Iris comes to see Reese and she lectures him about missing mandatory sessions. She says Moreno told her he took unpaid leave and he says he had a death in the family.
She asks if he wants to talk about it but Reese says no. Iris says this is their last session and she’s signing off on him and says he’s free to go. He thanks her and she acts awkward and almost touches him. He leaves. Lionel looks at missing person’s files on Reese’s desk and he asks if it’s part of a side project. Reese says that’s on hold for now but he’ll let him know when he needs his help. Reese goes to walk out but then the payphone rings in the police station. He answers it. It starts out saying Sierra…
In the court room a lawyer says Caroline Mills was the CEO of a major telecom firm until her husband Chad gunned her down in their home. She says they will hear that Chad killed her out of jealousy and greed. Reese speaks in Harold’s ear and says they have a new number and she’s sitting right next to him. It’s Emma the retired teacher. Harold tells Reese he dug through Emma’s digital footprint but found nothing more than what she told him.
He says she has prescriptions for anti-depressants and therapy appointments and thinks it’s not personal, it’s the trial. Reese is at her house and says he thinks she’s obsessed judging by all the clippings she has on Chad. They wonder if she’s the victim or perpetrator. Harold walks up to the court house and Emma greets him warmly calling him neighbor. Reese digs into Emma’s files to see if she bought any guns.
Lionel calls Reese and says he’s looking for his missing persons from the files. He says he thinks the missing person did business with Elias. Reese asks him to stay out of it and Lionel hangs up on him. Reese goes to see Iris and she asks if he shot anyone else. He says he wondered if they could keep talking. She agrees and asks about what. He says about things that have happened. She says they can do regular sessions but she has to ask tough questions.
She asks how he is really and says he’s not a cop. She says she has a family full of cops and knows he’s not one. She asks how he wound up at the NYPD. She offers him a 9 am appointment. Mr Ward is on the stand and says the company was Caroline but says Dean Reston, the new CEO, has pulled them together but it’s a shame she won’t be there to see the success. He says Caroline told him two weeks before she died that they were fighting and she was thinking divorce.
The defense attorney asks if Caroline was easy to work for. He says yes and then the lawyer asks him to read off of a report. It says Caroline’s employees were leaving in droves from stress related disorders. Reese says Emma hasn’t bought a gun and Harold says maybe her attack is one he hasn’t considered. He tells Reese that Emma just pulled out a second phone. She texts that she doesn’t know if she can go through with it. They wonder if she has a partner.
The text says she has no choice and must do as instructed. Harold wonders if she’s an unwilling participant. She texts and says he’ll have to kill her but the text back says he already has her vote. She gasps. Fiona, the frantic business woman, starts to wheeze and choke after she takes a bite of her sandwich. She’s allergic to eggs and was given a sandwich she can’t tolerate. They search her bag looking for an epi pen and Harold tells Reese that someone is trying to fix the trial.
Reese heads to the court house to look around. Harold tells him the poisoned juror will live but won’t be back for the trial. Harold says he thinks Chad hired a fixer. Reese says they’re going to tip the scales of justice back. Zoe approaches Reese and says hi. She asks why he’s there and he says undercover work. She asks if he thinks he can fix the Chad Bryson trial without her and they talk about likely juror votes. She says the old guy is mirroring a woman on the jury and will vote like she does.
She asks if Reese has a place they can go work when he gives her an appreciative look. Zoe shows them that Lana is embezzling, Mel has a secret illegitimate son and another juror has a gambling problem. Harold comes in and is surprised to see Zoe. He asks to speak to Reese alone. Reese says she insisted and Zoe asks if they’re going to work or what. They wonder if Chad is the one fixing the trial. Zoe says Emma was a good pick because she’s likable and people will listen to her.
Zoe says they need to get Harold ready. She coaches him on how to dissuade Emma from her not guilty vote. He talks about evidence and cell records placing him near the house. Zoe plays devil’s advocate then tells him to stop being so polite. They work Harold up to indignant and are pleased. Harold says his biggest challenge tomorrow will be staying awake and leaves Reese and Zoe. She says she may hit up some contacts to see who Chad hired to fix the trial.
She asks if he had something else in mind and he says he has other work to do. She asks if he’s interested in someone and says whoever she is, it won’t last. She says people like them are good for a night or a weekend but suck at letting people in. She tells him to sleep tight and goes. Next morning, he goes to Iris for the session. She says she thought he’d do more talking since he asked to talk. He asks if she ever thought about being a cop since all her family is.
She says she went to the academy but then decided she’d rather think about what cops think. She says he just wanted her safe. She says she beat up a guy who tried to get frisky and they almost got sued. He says he got sued when he was eight when his dad let him drive a car that he crashed. She asks if he and his dad are still close and he says he lost him when he was young but doesn’t talk about it. She says she thinks he’s lost a lot of people he doesn’t talk about.
He says privacy becomes a habit in his line of work. She says maybe he needs new habits but he says habits protect you from life and being close to someone. Cobb, the prosecutor, does her closing statements saying only Chad could have done this. She tells the jury that they need to speak out because Caroline can’t. Reese says still no word on the fixer and it’s time for deliberations. Emma insists on being foreperson but Lana is insistent. They push back and forth.
Emma says they can put it to a vote. Only the old guy votes for Lana. Zoe tells Harold to come out swinging. Harold says Chad is clearly guilty. He lists off some compelling evidence and Emma agrees with him. Zoe says the only person that would want Chad to be found guilty is the actual person that killed Caroline which is not Chad Bryson.
Reese says they read this wrong and they need to find the real killer. Harold asks what he should do and they tell him to stall. Emma calls for a vote and all hands raise except Harold. He says he may have been a bit hasty. He says they have to think about what’s at stake and they owe it to Caroline to take a little more time and think this through. He says they need to go through the evidence again. The others complain. Harold says he’s still not convinced. He says there is reasonable doubt.
Emma pushes and says he has to change his mind. The other jurors are angry at Harold. Emma says they need to take a break. Harold asks Reese if they’re making progress. He sends Harold a technical report on Caroline’s 5k system. Zoe thinks there may be a cover up at the telecom company. Harold says it’s a consumer safety warning. He says the 5k cell towers could microwave people. Reese says people at the company were getting sick and the prototype was built at HQ.
Reese says Caroline tried to call off the deal so someone at the company killed her and framed Chad. Harold thinks it may be Dean Reston, the replacement CEO. Zoe says there is video footage showing Chad and Caroline fighting before she was killed. Zoe says the fixer is fighting back. The bailiff takes away everyone’s cell phones and moves them into sequestration. Emma lies down on her bed then feels a piece of paper. It has Harold’s photo circled and says to end this or his blood will be on your hands.
Reese uses a laser sighting to signal Morse code to Harold and he flicks his lamp off and on to answer. He doesn’t like Reese pointing a gun at him but Reese signals back that it’s not loaded. Emma goes out onto her balcony and tears up the paper then stands up on her balcony table like she’s going to jump. Reese sees and tells Harold to get out onto his balcony. He comes out and begs Emma not to jump. She says she has to or someone else will get hurt – someone whose life matters.
He tells her that her life matters but she says it hasn’t for while now. He tells her he knows someone is using her to fix the trial and she’s gone along to protect people. He says Chad didn’t kill Caroline and someone at the company did. He says Caroline had the courage to stand up for what was right and says he’ll help her do what’s right too. He holds out her hand and she climbs down off the table. Reese tells Zoe that she’d be proud of Harold.
Zoe says she has a lead on where the fixer is hiding out – it’s a place across from the court house. He gets the message saying they are going to find the fixer. He asks Emma if she knows who’s behind this. She says no but the night before she was supposed to report for jury duty a file and a burner phone was on her porch. She says they threatened to hurt people then almost shot the girl next door to scare her into cooperating. Emma says of all the people the fixer picked her and asks why.
She says maybe he picked her because she’s a pushover and let them take her job away. Harold asks what else she could have done and says that she was told that people would be hurt. She asks if you can imagine knowing people were going to get hurt and only you can stop it. Reese busts into the room across from the court house. Zoe and Reese talk and he says the fixer is on the jury and is in the hotel with Emma and Harold.
The guard in the hall is knocked out and Tim comes into the room with Harold and Emma. He says Emma screwed this up royally now Harold has to die. He says poor Harold is about to take his own life. He pulls a knife on him but then Reese is there and kicks the crap out of Tim. The guy fights back and tries to stab Reese but then Emma hits him over the head. Tim goes out the window and is about to fall off the balcony but Reese saves him and says he wants to see him stand trial.
The next day the prosecutor drops all charges against Chad and the jury is released. The news also breaks that the 5k project is lethal. Zoe approaches Phillip Boyd and says she knows he’s behind this. He asks if she’s there to make him an offer. She says she came by to tell him not to call her to clean this up. They arrest Boyd. Lionel is there and tells Reese he understands he wants to keep him safe after what happened to Shaw but says Reese doesn’t get to decide how he lives his life.
Lionel hauls Boyd out to process him. Harold and Emma talk outside the court house and she says she’s tired of knitting and is going to find a new teaching job. She thanks him for everything. Reese is back at Iris’s and says he was thinking about their last talk. He says he’s been afraid to let anyone in and says he tried to avoid getting close so he could avoid loss. He says it happens anyway and that loss is inevitable. She says so is love. He says it may be time for new habits.
Reese and Harold meet and he asks if there’s any word from Root. Harold says no. He says he also made progress on the missing three and are all tight with Elias. Harold asks why Lionel is working this and Reese says he tried to shake him off but says he’s like a fungus. He says they can’t bring anyone new in but need the help. Harold says it’s the same conundrum that led him to hire Reese.
