Tyra Banks, who will host the Daytime Emmys April 26, on the other hand, is promoting photoshop and says everyone should use it. She has come right out and admitted that photos of her are often edited to make her “look better.”
Editing your photos to make yourself look better, or like a “super model,” has been a touchy subject for quite sometime now. A lot of celebrities have begun bashing the practice, in hopes that more women will begin to embrace their natural beauty. It has become very common for celebrities to talk about how photographers should not enhance their photos, because it causes young girls to strive for perfection; something that is unattainable.
Tyra Banks tells PEOPLE, “Honey, I’ve got a lot of cellulite on my booty and that’s nobody’s business. So if you see me in a swimsuit and you see the side of my butt and there’s no dimples in it, I or somebody else have retouched it all.”
Tyra Banks goes onto say that people have come to expect perfection in photos, and that is why she is okay with photoshopping and editing photos of herself. She recommended mobile apps like Facetune, that allow you to upload a photo of yourself and change everything from your skin smoothness, to hair color, to eye color. She says, “Girls may be like, ‘I’m so insecure. Tyra’s butt looks like that.’ Well, Tyra’s butt does not look like that. And your’s can look just like that. Just take a 5 second tutorial online and you can do it yourself.”
Tyra goes onto say that she does not see beauty as one thing, and she hopes that a day will come when models of all shapes and sizes, or body types, can be seines beautiful. “I don’t want different body types or heights or weights or shapes to be considered ‘special.’ I just want it to be normal, and the fact that it is starting to fell that way is so good.”
