A casting call caught the eyes of CDL and several media outlets in September. AMC was seeking an actor to play “Orin,” a 30s to mid 40s male that is “physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, hilarious, inappropriate, oddly friendly, fun loving sociopath that is both a leader of men and a killer of men.
He has both a practical and emotional intelligence, he’s a brilliant strategist, he’s pure, dangerous, murderous, often gleeful, that still has both discipline and a code. And he has a temper that can vaporize people. He’s truly one of the strongest personalities ever.”
That request was for episode #616 (season 6, episode 16) and is due to be directed by TWD genius, Greg Nicotero. That means Negan is due to appear on ‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 finale. After the casting call, rumors of who will be playing Negan went wild.
The latest Negan casting rumor pins ‘The Mindy Project’ star, Garret Dillahunt as the man who will take the role. Whispers suggest that filming for ‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 finale will begin on November 9. Both claims are not confirmed, but we will be keeping an eye out for Negan on set!
The basis for Negan finally being cast actually stem from something that could easily be insignificant or extremely telling. Scott Gimple – TWD showrunner – started following Dillahunt on Twitter. Alanna Masterson, who plays Tara, also began following Garrett, suggesting he has scored a role on the show.
Jon Hamm has been a fan-favorite for the role of Negan, but there has not been much evidence to support any legitimacy behind the rumor. Other rumblings suggest the appearance of Negan means the death of one or more major cast members.
