“The Young And The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers and rumors are always teasing incorrectly that Eric Braeden is quitting the CBS soap and the iconic character Victor Newman will be exiting Genoa City. However, those rumors never come to fruition – and Braeden has made it clear in his interviews that he plans on working on “The Young And The Restless” set until the day that he dies.
This month “Y&R” rumors of Victor Newman’s exit came back with a vengeance. An old news article from 2009 began spreading across Facebook and Twitter like wildfire and fans of “The Young And The Restless” worked themselves up in to a frenzy – convinced that Eric Braeden had quit the CBS soap (apparently everyone neglected to look at the date on the article nor did they realize it was posted 6 years ago).
Six years ago Eric Braeden did threaten to quit “Y&R,” at one point he even walked off the CBS set and refused to film any more scenes as Victor Newman until they raised his salary – after 30 years as the star of the show Eric rightly refused to be treated with less than the respect he has earned.
Finally, TPTB at Sony and the daytime drama realized that Braeden was not playing any games and they caved and granted him the money and contract that he wanted. Ever since then it has been smooth sailing and Braeden has no plans to retire from his role as Victor Newman.
When “The Young And The Restless” rumors began circulating (again) that Braeden had quit, fans flocked to his Twitter account to ask him what was going on. One fan tweeted Braeden and asked if the rumors were true and he was leaving “Y&R.” Braeden didn’t even write anything back, he just posted a hilarious photo of himself rolling his eyes and captioned it “Not this shit again.”
The fact is, Eric Braeden isn’t going anywhere – even if he wanted to. Eric as Victor Newman is locked into an iron-clad contract with the CBS soap opera until 2017, so there are no negotiations going on right now and he has no interest in retirement.
