“The Young and The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers indicate more Billy deathbed drama is building. Of course, we all know Billy Abbott (Burgess Jenkins/Jason Thompson) will survive, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a lot of action happening while he’s still in the ICU clinging to life.
First, the doctors say that Billy has little brain function and indicate that the Abbotts need to start thinking about end of life decisions. Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) says Billy wouldn’t want to live that way and that sets off Jill Abbot (Jess Walton).
Victoria ponders whether he should be unplugged while Jill insists the decision is all hers. Victoria and Jill will both be stunned to find they are powerless to have any say in Billy’s medical care and end of life decisions.
Turns out Billy drafted a new will and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) stops by the hospital to reveal that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) has total control over Billy’s medical care. Y&R spoilers reveal that Victoria will be at peace with this since it takes the burden off of her.
Jack looks at the facts of the case and is considering unplugging his brother from life support based on info from the Genoa City hospital medical staff. But Jill isn’t ready to give up on her son. She’ll go to Dr Simon Neville (Michel E Knight) and beg him to try his experimental treatment on Billy.
Neville is a guy who’s all about the facts – less about sensitivity – and tells Jill there’s no hope because of the surgery that went bad. He’ll remind Jill that he advised against the operation but Jill will beg him to try. But it’s Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) that will likely change Neville’s mind.
The mad scientist is quickly developing a weakness for his research partner and will do what Ashley asks and try the treatment. Naturally, it’s Neville’s bold experiment that will bring Billy out of the catastrophic coma.
Could this treatment of Billy serve as a test run of the protocol Neville will use to cure Ashley’s tumor? We’ll see. Meanwhile, Jack is weighing options. He’s got to make a decision but doesn’t want to give up on his brother, so will consent to the treatment rather than unplug him.
After all, if Billy is nearly brain dead, what harm can Neville’s treatment do? Y&R spoilers indicate the protocol won’t take too long to kick in and Billy will be awake soon – and will be a whole new man. When Billy comes out of the coma on January 13, Jason Thompson will be the new face of Billy.
