The guys received word about a very public kidnapping on tonight’s episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles” but for some reason Hetty gave them a time limit on their investigation.
Anatoli Kirkin was a known Russian criminal and recently he had traded information in order to escape prison time. So NCIS had every reason to believe that one of Anatoli many enemies or even some of his former friends could have ordered for him to be dragged away from his security detail. However, Hetty’s main concern had been whether or not Callen had been behind the kidnapping and thankfully he sworn that it wasn’t him though not that he hadn’t been thinking about it.
All that Callen had to say on the matter was that eventually he would have had to fill someone in on where they could find Anatoli if not Anatoli’s body. Therefore, Hetty had to make a decision about Callen out in the field. And she ultimately decided to take the drastic step of issuing an order rather than one of her suggestions.
Hetty told Callen that he had only until lunch to investigate Anatoli’s disappearance and then the guys had to go back to their regular cases. But maybe Hetty should have just removed him entirely from the case. Callen and Sam had later gone out to check up on a few leads and they were actually doing fine when out of nowhere Callen had simply lost it.
He got into a gun fight with a couple of guys that could have had answers. And that had left Sam a little confused about what had just happened. So he had to ask his partner what that had been about and not that surprisingly Callen tried to dismiss his actions. As if it had been nothing instead of it being serious concern.
But like a good partner, Sam hadn’t said anything to Hetty when they got back to headquarters and he had even been prepared to ignore the time limit when Eric later found footage surveillance that showed where Anatoli had been taken to. So the guys had honestly tied up Hetty’s hands on this one and she had no other choice but to tell them that they could continue on looking into Anatoli’s disappearance. And so the guys had gone to the nearby waterfront though it didn’t seem that anyone had been in there in a while.
Yet luckily Callen had overheard Anatoli and they ended up running into his kidnapper when they went to go rescue him. And so that’s when they knew that weren’t just dealing with anybody. They were dealing with Ana as in Arkady’s daughter Ana.
Ana was in town because she heard that her father was still alive and was set on helping him escape whatever prison he was in. However, the only person that could actually help her with finding her dad was Anatoli. Ana had been instructed to put photos of a kidnapped Anatoli in a secure file so that’s exactly what Nell did for her.
And while they waited, Kensi and Deeks worked on Anatoli. They figured he knew more than he was letting on and they were fortunate that he was willing to talk. Antaloi actually seems to have a special fondness for Deeks so he told him about Russian Consul General being the only one that has access on his computer to where certain fugitives might be held and in what particular prison.
But a message had been dropped off for Ana. Her father had shot a video of himself from two days ago and in it he basically told her that she didn’t own him anything. So he wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to stop right there and then.
Therefore, Ana had been given a choice. She was told that she could stop but she knew that leaving her father in his situation would eventually mean leaving him to his death. So she still wanted to rescue her father and NCIS were willing to offer her whatever support she needed.
And so the agents had gone with her to a party thrown at the Russian Consul General. Kensi and Deeks had acted as extra severs and they helped fool the security team’s iPads into believing the other three were on the list. But surviving the party was the bigger concern.
The security guards wanted to search Kensi because they wanted to check for a facial recognition scrambler. So that had lessened their time at the party and therefore both Callen and Ana had to create a diversion just to buy Sam enough time to get to the computer in General’s office. But all they could think of was a heavy make-out session that neither wanted to admit to afterwards.
Although that session had helped Sam and Sam had found out that Arkady was being held alongside a CIA operative. So Sam and Callen had been authorized to rescue that operative but then they had been told that Arkady was on his own. And that if the guys decided to rescue him, they would be acting as rogue agents on unsanctioned mission.
So the guys had to ask themselves whether Arkday was worth them risking everything else.
THE END!
