Federal Judge William Terrell Hodges ordered Wesley Snipes to surrender to authorities Friday to begin serving his 3-year prison term for tax evasion related crimes.
“The defendant Snipes had a fair trial; he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his conviction and sentence. … The time has come for the judgment to be enforced,” the judge wrote in his 16-page decision.
Snipes has been free on bond for 2 years while his lawyers have tried to find every trick in the book to keep him free. They have asked for a new trial, and his lawyer Daniel Meachem says he plans to file an appeal with The Supreme Court!
The whole matter is ridiculous – Snipes made many millions and simply did not file returns or pay his taxes like all the rest of us have to. Let him be a man and do his time and stop crying. He cheated the system, got caught, and now he has to pay. Too bad, so sad.
