General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) will soon take a hard look at her love life and decide if she’s ready to move on to new romance. But has Anna already met and lost the love of her life? Who is Anna’s true love – Duke or Robert?
Mobster vs Spy
Anna has a long and tangled history with both men. Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) was her General Hospital sidekick in the spy business and even though he colored outside the lines, he was largely a good guy and on the side of law and order. That’s important to Anna.
Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) was Anna’s walk on the wild side, though. He was a gangster when they met yet she could not deny her attraction for the Scottish bad-boy. Importantly, Duke wanted to clean up his act to be with her, although it didn’t work out.
Baby Daddy Drama
Robert is the father of Anna’s only child – Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough). But even though they’re parents together, they didn’t get to do much parenting together – particularly not in Robin’s early years so their bonding as parents took time.
Anna also has a parenting past with Duke. Remember she was pregnant with Duke’s baby when Olivia Falconeri sabotaged an elevator and Anna was injured and miscarried. That tragedy brought them closer together because they lost their child.
Adventure Time
Anna had mad spy adventures with Robert – remember when they were in the Amazon together? They also shared drama back in their WSB days (although we didn’t get to see all of that). Plus, they were both PCPD commissioners and share that link.
Duke and Anna also had a wild ride starting with the Mr Big plot back in the day. Then there was the drama in L’Orleans with Duke’s dad Angus McKay and the sister/nun that crushed on Duke. But then his faked death took him from Anna for decades.
Married and married again
Anna was married to Robert before we met them and had already divorced once, but being exes didn’t stop them from resurrecting their love and giving matrimony another go, particularly after daughter Robin staged a romantic intervention.
In comparison, Anna and Duke were only married once before but were making plans to run off and have another shot at happily ever after when he was gunned down by Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Parise) on the orders of Julian Jerome (William deVry).
So who is Anna’s one true love?
Has Anna loved and lost her soul mate? When Duke died, did that kill her shot at a lasting romance? Was Duke the one that Anna was meant to be with? If so, is she destined to a future of “less than” love? Or was it the other love from her past that was true?
Is Robert the one love that Anna is always meant to be with? They do have a storied history and share a child and grandchild together. Plus, the last time we saw them together, their chemistry was still evident. Are Robert and Anna meant to be?
