Recent General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that when Tyler Christopher returns as Nikolas Cassadine during Fall sweeps, GH fans will be in for a major shock – and so will Laura Spencer (Genie Francis). Laura will be stunned when she discovers that Nikolas had a twin that Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) stole at birth. This reveal will shatter the Cassadines and the Spencers.
The groundwork has been laid for this stunning reveal for more than a year. The twin twist was put into play when Helena had her henchmen grab Nikolas (in early 2015) before he could rush on board the Haunted Star to try and deal with the bomb Fluke had planted there. That was her opportunity to hide good Nikolas away and replace him with his evil twin – Nikolas2.
Twice recently, Laura has told people that in the last year, Nikolas went “dark” and that the “dark side” had won out. Laura is right that the man that everyone thought was Nikolas was dark, but it was Nik2, the other son she’s never known. Remember that Laura was held hostage on Cassadine Island and was under Helena’s control when she was pregnant and gave birth to Stavros’ offspring.
It would not have been difficult for Helena to keep Laura in the dark that she was carrying twins – or told her that one of them died at birth. GH spoilers tease that Helena stole one away and has been raising Nik2 all these years as a backup plan. Helena is known for her long-term scheming and this is a perfect example. Plus, years later, Helena had Laura’s labor and delivery doctor killed.
At the time, the reason to whack the OB/GYN was that it was to keep secret that Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) was the father of Laura’s son while Helena was trying to get her hands on the Cassadine family fortune. But that homicide happily now serves another purpose since the doctor would have known that Laura delivered twins and that both were alive and well.
Also, consider the will reading. Helena told Laura that she “took from me the thing I loved most, my beloved Mikkos. But because I am a better person, I’m giving you the key to what you have loved and lost… Remember Laura, the key to what you have loved, and lost!” The key that Helena left led Laura to her past and to Cassadine Island, but she never found what she was looking for.
What Helena was hinting at was that the kind, caring light Nikolas that Laura loved was lost when dark Nik2 replaced him (although Laura didn’t know this). Helena’s message also may have carried a dual meaning and referred to the second baby Laura carried and lost way back in the day when Helena stole Nik2 away from Laura after she gave birth. Either way, Laura has a child to find.
It’s likely that good Nikolas has been held captive for the past year-and-a-half on Cassadine Island and Helena replaced him with Nik2 who has been in Port Charles wreaking havoc. Dark and evil Nik2 helped Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) keep the Jake Doe (Billy Miller) identity secret and was the dark-hearted villain that ordered the Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) assassination.
Recently, Laura told Ava Jerome (Maura West) and the airplane castaways in Greece that Nikolas had been unlike himself for the past year and Laura is absolutely right. Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) also admitted that she didn’t know who Nikolas was anymore – that’s because he’s not the cousin she’s known and loved. Liz also acknowledged that Nikolas is not the man he once was.
Further proof is that good Nikolas would not have gotten involved with scheming, lying Hayden. Remember that he hated Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) lies and schemes so much that he dumped her – so no way would the man that dumped Britt think it was okay to marry Hayden. The good news is, the Nikolas everyone knows and loves is still alive and will return this Fall.
The bad news is, Nik2 may also be alive. Since the body wasn’t found after Valentin Cassadine (James Stuart) shot him, someone may have found Nik2 and saved his life. If we’re lucky, we may get to see Tyler Christopher playing dual roles as both Nikolas and Nik2 when he returns. Tyler mentioned in an interview that he enjoys playing dark Nik, so playing both roles would be great for GH fans to see.
This will all come out this Fall when Lulu, Laura, and others journey back to Cassadine Island to get the answers they need since their last trip was fouled up by Valentin and his henchmen. What do you think GH fans? Are you excited to discover a secret twin twist and the reveal of both a light and dark Nikolas? Are you thrilled about the return of Tyler Christopher this Fall?
