Jared Lee Loughner, 22, is the Arizona gunman who killed six persons, wounded 12 others and one person wounded was congresswomen Gabrielle Giffords, 40, who was shot at close range in the head. The incident occured at a public meeting in Tucson. Loughner a resident of Tucson was taken into custody and a 9mm glock was found on the scene. He does not have a criminal record but is eccentric and made strange videos. (see below)
The congresswomen is in critical condition but doctors are hopeful. No names of the dead have been released but on is believed to be a nine year old child and the other a federal judge.
The Republican Speaker of the House or Representatives, John Boehner, said: “I am horrified by the senseless attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and members of her staff. An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve. Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no place in our society. Our prayers are with Congresswoman Giffords, her staff, all who were injured, and their families. This is a sad day for our country.”
