Is Prince William disrespecting his wife Kate Middleton by not wearing a wedding ring? That’s what some royal observers can’t help but wonder as there’s a new report that says William has never been spotted with his wedding ring in public.
Of course, many married couples don’t wear their wedding rings for several different reasons. Their rings either become too small or too big over time. But for Prince William, he simply hates wearing jewelry altogether. Even though Kate wears her ring, William has never worn his in public. The Duke and Duchess tied the knot in a lavish royal ceremony back in 2011.
“It was something the couple discussed but William isn’t one for jewelry,” the Palace said in a statement following William and Kate’s wedding. “He doesn’t even wear a signet ring — and decided he didn’t want to.”
Yet, Prince William isn’t the only member of the royal family who isn’t a fan of jewelry. Prince Philip has never worn his wedding ring as well. Yet, Prince William’s father Prince Charles wears a gold wedding ring under a signet ring on his left hand pinky. It was given to him by his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Still, many critics say William’s decision not to wear a wedding ring probably doesn’t sit well with Kate Middleton. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a long history of ups and downs, including their very public break up from 2007. That’s why many insiders say that the least William can do is wear his wedding ring on a necklace while he’s in public.
Then again, William has never made any comments about his wedding ring or his marriage for that matter. William has always been fiercely private about his personal life. Yet, multiple reports have indicated that Kate has always been jealous of William’s past girlfriends and female friends. Their marriage has seen plenty of problems and arguments, including when William left Kate and their children at Easter to fly to Africa for his ex-girlfriend Jecca Craig’s wedding last year.
Of course, no one knows what is going on behind closed doors except for William and Kate themselves. What do you think? Should Prince William wear his wedding ring?
