The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap may be gearing up for the shocker of the century. Ever since Justin Hartley left the role of Adam Newman, Y&R fans have been wondering who might replace him. We all knew it was a matter of when, not if. Adam is a crucial character who’s desperately needed on canvas.
Recast buzz has been floating around lately, but it looks like The Young and the Restless might be putting a familiar face back in the role. It’s no secret that Michael Muhney has been hoping for a return to Genoa City and Eric Braeden seems to indicate it will happen. Of course, that creates some issues since Muhney was fired in a very public Y&R PR disaster. His behavior on set was supposedly tough to deal with as well.
Many The Young and the Restless fans thought Michael Muhney would never reappear in the world of daytime dramas, but things could be shifting. On Twitter, Muhney gave viewers hope for his future at The Young and the Restless. Muhney tweeted, “The comeback story is powerfully human.” Could this mean Muhney is returning as the beloved Adam Newman?!
Muhney’s alleged conduct at the show created quite a stir. Y&R executives undoubtedly wanted to distance themselves from that, but perhaps they feel like Muhney deserves a second chance at this point. Fans have had to endure a couple of Adam Newman recasts and bringing in another one is risky. It’s not easy to find the right fit for a character like this.
The Young and the Restless may have decided to go with someone they know will work in the part. Muhney certainly has a plenty of people in his corner on social media. Viewers have created petitions for his comeback and voiced their support to the network.
Will Michael Muhney fans finally get their wish to see him return as Adam Newman? Is their dream about to come true? Muhney’s return would definitely be a big draw for the CBS soap. Maybe they’re making it happen! Whatever the case, you can bet that Adam’s comeback will bring some great storylines. Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) will get some awesome material to work with, too.
