The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that two of the greatest soap opera villains could see each other on The Bold and the Beautiful. Now consider how epic it would be if those fictional personalities were Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and Adam Newman (as last played by Justin Hartley).
Brown’s stunning return to B&B occurred in June. As viewers know, Sheila has already made an impact on the Forrester family and will continue to do so until at least next spring when Brown’s one-year contract is set to expire. Of course a contract extension, or it’s pickup by Y&R would extend the fun.
Y&R fans know that Justin Hartley’s version of Adam Newman is believed to have died in Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) cabin blast last September. That storyline enabled Hartley to move to NBC’s This Is Us, which has since become a breakout hit and was renewed for two seasons past it’s debut year.
Justin Hartley could possibly return to Y&R on some type of mutually agreed upon limited basis. While not out of the question, savvy viewers wonder if that scenario would ever happen, or would be best? In any case, given the runaway success of This Is Us savvy fans of The Young and the Restless do not expect to see Hartley play Adam Newman again.
Sally Sussman didn’t stay with Y&R for long, after returning late last year. Her run as co-executive producer and head writer has already ended, with her final storylines set to air in October. Executive producer Mal Young also took on the title of head writer.
So, Sheila’s life on Y&R was thought to have ended in 2007, when Michelle Stafford’s dual role version of that character was shot dead by Lauren (Tracey Bregman). However, Sheila’s reappearance in Brown’s body this June either rewrote or reimagined the history of both shows. So why not do that again?
All devoted soap fans know that all is possible in this alternate reality. Adam could be recast with any actor, or, as many have hoped Michael Muhney could be rehired by Mal Young.
That actor was proven eligible for rehire based upon his interview with Y&R in the summer of 2014. All conjecture about concocted matters relating to him and other cast member(s) appears to have been discredited as time has passed as well.
Instead of only boosting the ratings of the parent steamer, why not inject Adam into B&B by having Sheila meet him and then later discover his identity? The crossover possibilities involving many connected actors (and their connected characters) on both shows are enormous. And the otherworldly mix between Brown and Muhney would obviously be delicious.
