The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Hilary (Mishael Morgan) might be a troublemaker, but in this instance her methods worked. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) bought into Hilary’s plan to make Billy (Jason Thompson) jealous by pretending to be interested in Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood).
It’s time for this scribe to sit on the truth chair and spill his soapy guts. He believed that Philly was wrong since Burgess Jenkins and Tognoni first began making goo-goo eyes at each other. That feeling lessened when Thompson was hired to become Billy, but it still felt like mashing Phyllis and Billy was a no-go. At no point in time, up through the beginning of this month, did this keyboard believe that each character loved each other either.
Ladies and gentlemen, this keyboard was wrong.
The stand-alone nature of the last declarative sentence was not hard to write. When someone misdiagnoses a situation it’s okay to simply admit it. Honesty isn’t a badge, or a pat on the back. It’s an admission.
Vickie (Amelia Heinle) and Billy do have a child, Katie (Sienna Mercuri), together. Miss Newman is also raising Billy’s son, Johnny (Holden and Ryan Hare), through Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan).
Ideally, it would be best for both parents to have made sacrifices and not divorced. But they did and despite multiple attempts by both parties, reconciliation hasn’t happened. As of now, it won’t. So let’s move forward and consider why Phyllis and Billy are right for each other.
Jack (Peter Bergman) wronged Phyllis by not standing up to Victor (Eric Braeden) after the horrid Marco (also Peter Bergman) violation. Phyllis’ former husband was willing to battle the Moustache about the smallest personal slight, or business issue, in the past but not defend her honor? That was unforgivable, yet Phyllis continued to believe their marriage was worth fighting for.
Jack disagreed and literally kissed her off. But he selfishly kept Phyllis at Jabot because he seemingly didn’t want to fully let her go. Philly was a revenge play for Billy, at first. Phyllis saw potential in her former adversary and, as time passed, fell in love.
It’s not that Phyllis and Billy can’t get anyone else. Phyllis is smart, much softer than she ever was before, via Tognoni’s interpretation of the scripts she’s been presented with and remains a great catch.
Various ladies love Billy so much that they’re always willing to help him fix himself. Oh brother, or so Jack often says. In order to make Philly last both characters mustn’t think about their pasts, Jack or worry about the future. Just love each other, Phyllis and Billy. You two make a great couple.
