The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap could be gaining a cast member. Mal Young, Y&R’s head writer and executive producer, has made it clear that he wants to focus on core characters. According to buzz on social media, perhaps it’s time for a fan favorite to reenter the picture.
Soap Central recently tweeted out a blind item that could be about any of the four soaps. This juicy tidbit hinted that one daytime drama is recasting a major role. This character has been MIA for a while, but the unnamed soap is setting up a comeback.
Is The Young and the Restless finally letting Adam Newman return to Genoa City? That’s certainly a possibility to consider. The Newman clan has become a real circus lately. Victor’s (Eric Braeden) poor children have no sense at all. Adam might be the only one Victor could really trust to carry on his legacy.
Many viewers love Victor and he’s certainly a staple on The Young and the Restless. However, there will come a day when Eric Braeden either can’t or is unwilling to stick around. We’re not saying this will happen anytime soon, but it’s a good idea to be realistic and prepared. The CBS soap needs to be ready for a Victor-less Y&R when that happens somewhere down the line.
That’s why an Adam recast is critical. They should bring Adam back so he can be groomed under Victor’s wing. The Newmans need a leader who’s devious, but also has a softer side. Adam has always been pretty sneaky, but he remains beloved. He’s a perfect gray character who can keep things interesting for fans.
Of course, we all want to see Adam’s complicated reunions. Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is currently dating Nick (Joshua Morrow), who’s raising Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen). Since Nick is Adam’s brother and Christian is Adam’s son, that would lead to some serious conflict for all parties involved. Talk about family drama!
Adam could become Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) bitter rival as well. She’s become the apple of Daddy’s eye lately, but we’ll see how long that lasts if Adam returns. Victor might shove Victoria aside faster than she can say “COO.”
