The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that some major shifts could cause chaos for the Abbott clan following Jack’s coming arrest. Ever since Dina (Marla Adams) dropped the paternity bomb, Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) been determined to find out if it’s true. She can’t help but wonder if Jack’s (Peter Bergman) father could really be someone besides John (Jerry Douglas).
Y&R viewers can expect Abby to get sneaky soon. She’ll hope to do a DNA test to settle the matter once and for all. Of course, that may not resolve this dilemma. In fact, it could make it more complicated. Everybody knows you can trust the results you get from any soap lab. A mistake or some tampering could easily lead Abby – and eventually Jack – to the wrong conclusion.
It doesn’t seem likely that The Young and the Restless will change Jack’s paternity permanently. This is probably a plot point that will ultimately help Jack and Ashley connect. It’ll also highlight the difficulties that come with a family member who has Alzheimer’s.
If Jack turns out to be anything other than a true Abbott at the end of this storyline, we’d be willing to bet Y&R will have a new head writer soon. Mal Young would likely be out of there in a flash! Many fans are already threatening to boycott if the show alters Jack’s parentage. Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) storyline was accepted because they set it up decades ago. A sudden twist for Jack isn’t going to fly.
Besides, how many affairs did Dina (Marla Adams) have?! Is anybody an Abbott? This is getting ridiculous. Y&R must know how much backlash a permanent paternity change would cause, so there’s a good chance they’ll confirm Jack as an Abbott down the road.
In the meantime, The Young and the Restless watchers can just sit back and prepare for hot drama. If Jack soon believes he isn’t an Abbott, that could lead to mayhem at Jabot. Since he’s the top suspect in Victor’s (Eric Braeden) assault, that won’t help the situation. Of course, the paternity dilemma would change things for Kyle (Michael Mealor) as well. If Jack isn’t an Abbott, Kyle isn’t either.
Kyle could still fight for a spot at the top, but his scheming with Victor could be an issue. As for Ashley, she may not bother returning to Jabot for another battle. She seems more concerned about winning her war with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) at Newman Enterprises.
Traci (Beth Maitland) isn’t interested in the corporate world, so that would leave Billy (Jason Thompson) as the last remaining blood Abbott with the necessary skills. Could he make a move for Jabot power? That’d be a great way to shake up this story.
Again, Y&R could rectify all this sooner or later. Jack could eventually sort out the facts and resume his rightful place as Jabot’s fierce leader.
