General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that a major exit could be looming. There’s been plenty of buzz about Dominic Zamprogna’s (Dante) potential departure from the ABC soap. It seems that buzz is slowly gaining traction. Comments from Zamprogna himself are fueling the exit fire, so we’ll give you the scoop on where things stand.
The chatter started with a cryptic tweet on May 15. Zamprogna simply said, “Goin’ with my gut.” Naturally, many soap fans wondered if he was talking about GH. Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan) added to that speculation with his reply. He said, “It’s the only way.”
Of course, General Hospital viewers know Paevey walked away from the show to pursue film and primetime TV opportunities. He may have been encouraging Zamprogna to do the same. The next hint came in response to a fan’s tweet on May 25. A viewer wanted to let Zamprogna and Emme Rylan (Lulu) know how much she enjoyed “Lante” scenes.
The GH watcher gushed, “You two work so well together even when you are fighting! This fan appreciates and loves what you have been able to bring to this pairing. Thank you!” Zamprogna replied, “Thanks we gave it our all! Love Em!” Notice that he said “we gave” instead of “we give.” Wouldn’t they still be giving it their all if Zamprogna was on set filming more scenes?
Another departure clue surfaced on June 4. After Zamprogna posted a pic on Twitter and captioned it, a fan suggested that she was sorry to see him go. She wished Zamprogna the best of luck with all his future endeavors.
Zamprogna replied, “Don’t believe everything you hear 2nd.” That led to some confusion from the fan he was speaking with. She thought Zamprogna was saying he’d be sticking around. She said, “Good you can’t leave!” However, Zamprogna was cryptic once again when he stated that’s not what he meant.
Perhaps Zamprogna was initially talking about the bogus site that reported on his decision to stay. That’d be the 2nd round of gossip since the first would be Zamprogna’s choice to exit. Regardless, the fact that he shot down her excitement is telling. There’s no reason for Zamprogna to do that unless he’s headed for the exit door – or out it already.
Nothing’s been confirmed just yet, but it certainly looks like Zamprogna could be leaving as Dante. When there is exit buzz on a soap star, especially if it is false buzz and the star is staying, it is typical for that star or TPTB to clarify the situation.
