The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Bill (Don Diamont) and Katie’s (Heather Tom) custody battle is really going to heat up. Katie is going to bring up Bill’s recent history of neglecting Will (Finnegan George), and Bill is going to bring up Katie’s past history of alcoholism. It’s going to get ugly. But why did Will’s custody even become an issue in the first place?
Katie would say that she reached the decision to seek full legal custody because she’s been essentially been acting as Will’s sole custodial parent for some time now, ever since Bill became obsessed with Steffy (Jaqueline MacInnes Wood) earlier this year. She’d argue that she just wants to protect her son from all the disappointment he faces when Bill inevitably doesn’t show for his scheduled visitations.
But Bill’s got a radically different perspective. Bill believes that Katie never would have fathomed seeking full custody of Will if it weren’t for Thorne (Ingo Rademacher). Bill sees Thorne as an opportunist who waltzed in, decided he wanted Katie and a relationship with Will, and decided to do anything possible to get Bill out of the picture. According to Bill’s theory, Thorne then pushed the idea of full custody onto Katie.
But is Bill right? It seems that he’s got some evidence on his side. After all, Thorne was the one who first floated the idea of Katie seeking full custody. And when Katie wasn’t that receptive to the idea, Thorne did push the issue. Thorne also got Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) involved in the case before Katie had even made her mind up.
That said, who’s to say that Katie wouldn’t have eventually come up with the idea on her own? She did keep track of all the times that Bill didn’t show for visitations, and she seems very sensitive to Will’s admittedly negative feelings toward Bill. It may have only been a matter of time before Katie would have thought about seeking full custody on her own.
