Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that the soap world’s dealing with a tough loss. Peggy McCay (Caroline Brady) has died at the age of 90, so that’s certainly sad news. McCay will always be remembered for her talent and contribution to Days history. As the matriarch of the Brady family, Caroline was cherished by just about any loyal DOOL fan.
Due to McCay’s failing health, Caroline’s been living off screen in recent years. Since the show tapes several months in advance, it’ll be a while before a more permanent exit might be addressed. It’d be nice if Days of Our Lives could do a special tribute to Caroline. She deserves a proper sendoff to honor McCay’s memory and let viewers say their goodbyes.
McCay was also a General Hospital alum playing Iris Fairchild, so GH fans are mourning as well. In fact, just about anyone who loves soaps is sorry to see McCay pass away. She’s cemented her spot as a daytime drama legend, so that’s led to quite an outpouring on social media. Plenty of Days watchers have shared their thoughts, but so have McCay’s former costars and other cast members.
Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) said, “Our dearest Peggy McCay has left us. She was a friend, an activist and a real scrapper!!” Thaao Penghlis (Andre DiMera) offered some kind words of his own. “Always a classy lady our Emmy winning Peggy McCay who cared about her craft, her fellow actors and the Life of Days,” Penghlis said on Twitter. “She reigned well in this most pressured profession of Daytime.”
Sal Stowers (Lani Price) tweeted out some truly touching comments, too. She called McCay “a beautiful and tender woman.” Stowers is grateful “to have shared precious time with her,” so it’s clear that this fantastic actress made an impact. As the news of McCay’s death spreads, fans and soap stars will continue to weigh in on McCay’s brilliant work.
