A ghost has never grabbed Cassie Before. They usually let the means of their deaths do the speaking for them and so tonight was a first for Cassie. This the ghost named Millie had grabbed onto Cassie because she wanted to Cassie her body. Millie told Cassie to “find me”, but whether or not she meant to, she has also shown her the body of another young woman and it seems the two were buried together. Cassie mentioned both Millie and this other woman to her dad. She wanted Tom’s help in finding the bodies and so she didn’t count on it turning into a thing. Cassi just wanted to bring to closure to the families. She hadn’t known that her father would come back with the news that this case was going to be a little more difficult than they thought.
Tom and his partner Damien had found out they were looking into a serial killer. They checked and there’s been a single killer operating under the radar for the past thirty years. He tended to like prostitutes and runaways. Women who were at high risk. The killer also preferred brunettes and he tended to grab when they were around CTEch. Therefore, the profile of this killer didn’t add up with Millie’s death. Millie was a blonde and the detectives that she might have been an outlier. She was either someone that the killer grabbed because she was convenient or maybe she saw something the night she died. Tom and Damien were exactly sure why Millie was grabbed and so they decided to check their sources. And Tom showed Cassie pictures.
It was pictures of the women they suspected had been a victim and one photo stuck out. Cassie recognized the other body as Tara Burns. Burns had disappeared two days before Millie and the killer was dumping their body off the boat. Cassie also thought the vision had reminded her of Ed Roven somehow. She admitted to her dad that the ghost was still around and she said she could handle him, but then Ed dragged her into another vision and he accidentally more than he should have. He more or less confirmed that he did have a part in Millie’s death. The more he didn’t want to show was how he killed Millie with a partner and that he was still protecting his friend. It was his friend that was this serial killer.
Cassie told her father all about it. She told him how Ed seemed protective of the killer and so he and Damien went sure for possibly the only friend Ed has ever had. Ed ended up punishing Cassie for what she did. He talked to a homeless man that could hear him and he convinced the guy to attack Cassie. The homeless man was supposed to take her eyes, but Cassie fought him off and she went to her dad i.e. the police. They were able to arrest them that attacked and it seems like he’s mentally unstable. Tom thought that’s why the guy attacked her only Cassie remembered seeing the homeless man with Ed. Ed was also very specific about taking his victims’ eyes and Cassie wouldn’t pass him to somehow give a message from the other side.
It also got Tom to thinking. He remembered the copycat killer that recreated everything Ed did and how the guy had perfectly replicated Ed’s murders down to the finest detail. Tom wondered if maybe Ed was reaching out from the other side to keep being a serial killer. Tom didn’t mention this theory to Cassie or Damien, but the detectives were able to close their case when they found out Ed bailed Frank Blair from prison. It turns out Frank had gotten caught with prostitutes around the CTech area and he ticked all the boxes. He also worked with Ed Roven on the docks back in the day. Only Frank chose to stay in the city. He rose up to become dockmaster and the detectives found him at his cabin.
Frank had even had his latest victim with him. Becky Russell was relatively unharmed and so the detectives got to her in time. Frank, however, wasn’t the least disappointed when he was caught. If anything, he was actually bragging because he says he’s killed over sixty women and so Frank was happy to tell them where the many bodies were. He just couldn’t tell them where Millie was. Frank said that he hadn’t been his kill and so Cassie knew she had to find out from Ed himself. Damien even told her how to get the information. He said that she looked like Millie and that if she angered him enough that she could get Ed to do anything. And so that’s what she did, she prodded Ed until he revealed what happened to Millie.
The detectives had been right when they said that Frank was Ed’s mentor. Ed hadn’t killed anyone before he met Frank and he wouldn’t have killed Millie either. She was his first love. He liked her so much that Frank told him to choose. Frank wanted Ed to choose between being in love or being a serial killer and he didn’t let Ed wait too long. Frank tricked Millie into coming to his cabin one night. She walked in on Ed killing Tara and with that, she sealed her fate. Ed had to kill her because she would have talked if he hadn’t. So he killed her and he didn’t take her eyes. That alone showed how unique she was to him.
Cassie ended up seeing the whole thing. She was so disgusted with Ed that she demanded he leaves and then she couldn’t stop herself from crying. She could have left things there and she sure as hell wasn’t okay enough to talk to anyone about it, but she went to her dad and she told him where he could find Millie. Millie was buried at the spot she met Ed. Ed wanted to memorialize her in the only way he could and so that’s where they later found her.
But Tom visited the prison afterward. He had wanted to talk Waterman who was the man that copied Ed’s murders and so he asked Waterman if he ever heard Ed Roven’s voice after the man was executed. And Waterman didn’t know what he was talking about.
Tom thought that would be it, but it seems Waterman really was his protégé because he was still talking to Ed and they planned on breaking Waterman out of prison.
THE END!
