The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tessa’s Heartbreak Ignored for Mariah’s Pity Party – Y&R’s Glaring Perspective Problem

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will realize she needs to pour her heart out and win back her love. Mariah made a massive blunder by accusing Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) of cheating without ever giving her a chance to explain. She then got caught cheating with Lindsay (Kirby Bliss Blanton), so she’s got a lot to apologize for.

However, we can’t help but notice a glaring flaw in this storyline: Y&R isn’t showing us Tessa’s perspective. When Mariah first fell for Tessa, it made perfect sense to tell the story from her point of view. Mariah was the character we all knew, so we went on a complex journey with her.

Of course, Y&R fans also got to know Tessa over time, but her lack of perspective remained. Take the blackmail storyline for example. After Mariah found out about Tessa’s betrayal, she confided in Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) on multiple occasions. Mariah also told edited versions of her troubles to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle).

Even Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) offered advice to Mariah, who was struggling to make sense of the situation. Who did Tessa have to lean on? Absolutely nobody! The Young and the Restless writers largely ignored Tessa’s reasons for doing what she did and gave her no one to confide in. They only focused on Mariah’s pain.

Now we’re seeing a storyline where Tessa’s the one who’s been betrayed. This is the time for Tessa’s perspective to shine, but Y&R’s showcasing Mariah’s pity party instead. Naturally, we’re all sympathetic to Mariah and what she’s going through with Sharon, but she’s not the one who caught Tessa after a hookup in their own home. We need to see Tessa’s heartbreak here.

The Young and the Restless will likely include some scenes of Tessa confiding in Tanner Watts (Chas Coleman) soon, but that’s not the ideal scenario. Fans don’t know Tanner all that well – and he’s part of the problem anyway. If he hadn’t crossed so many lines by answering Tessa’s phone and jumping in their video chats while shirtless, maybe Mariah wouldn’t have spiraled out of control.

It would’ve been nice for viewers to see Tessa writing that song Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) assumed she was writing. If Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) had been stuck at the Grand Phoenix after a flight in due to impassable roads, she would’ve been a great person for Tessa to open up to. Traci also could’ve talked to Tessa about Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams), who Tessa sang to on several occasions.

There was certainly airtime for that considering Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) were busy talking about dividing up a pack of mints across town! We could’ve used some Tessa follow-up while we had the momentum of the drama going.

On the bright side, The Young and the Restless spoilers, news and updates state that we’ll hear more about how Tessa feels eventually. She deserves to have her say, so stay tuned. Don’t miss CDL’s hot Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news posts.
