It’s early morning when Harper and John come across what they believe is a convenience store robbery. After getting inside they realize that it’s a college student filming a movie.
Back at the precinct, before roll call, John gets a call that his check bounced for Henry’s college tuition. It has to be a mistake. The sergeant shares that they’re being evaluated for their compliance, Jackson will record all of that. The sergeant reveals that he will be out of the office for the day with Angela. Before he leaves, she tells John that his credit score slipped below 700 and it’s a bad look for a cop.
Tim tells Lucy that Angela and the sergeant are going to prison. The man who killed the sergeant’s partner years ago is up for parole and Angela is going because she was the first on the scene with her too.
After running his credit report, John realizes that somebody has stolen his identity. Harper tells them to go to the identity theft department for help. A specialist tells John it could take years to fix this situation and he probably won’t get the cashback stolen out of his checking account. John notices that a very unusual and unique watch was bought on one of his credit cards. It makes it easy for him to track down. He and Harper head to the house where they find the culprit.
P2Harper and John call into Jackson. They need him to come over to the house and catalog all of the merchandise that the man bought with John‘s identity. Before he heads out, Jackson finds an old file that fell through the crack. He has to do the right thing and look into it.
The sergeant and Angela are still on the road headed to the prison. She’s a little nervous and talks about how the day his partner died changed her life forever. It was her first day on the job and she held him in her arms while he died.
John learned that the man who stole his identity only has so much merchandise and there’s a lot of missing money. It’s probably in an offshore account and now he hast to find a backup drive because the criminals’ computer is heavily encrypted.
Tim and Lucy are on a ride-along with his love interest in her very strict and angry father. Tim is doing very little to impress him. After they managed to apprehend the suspect to storm the man’s bag he pulls Tim aside to tell him that he doesn’t want him to date his daughter. He’s a cop and the job will always come first and his daughter will come second.
John suspect is released and arrives at his house to find Harper and John with the processing department. He asks to use the bathroom before they make him leave. John has a camera in the bathroom and watches him pull a hard drive out of a toilet paper roll. It looks like he’ll get his money back.
The sergeant and Angela break down on the side of the road. While trying to change the tire, the sergeant becomes really upset. They start to talk about his partner and Angela reveals that he was drunk the night he died. The sergeant can’t believe it he was sober for four months.
Jackson talks to his cold case victim who had his garage graffitied. The man doesn’t want to move any further and wants Jackson to leave it all alone.
Tim finds out that his girlfriend might have Huntington’s disease and that’s why her father so overprotective.
John is freaking out when Harper us to console him about how he’ll never get any of his money back and he has to start over. Meanwhile, Tim’s girlfriend now knows that he knows about the possibility of her having Huntington’s disease. She’s very angry that her father told him.
Jackson discovers that the man who is responsible for vandalizing a neighbors house ended up dead the next day. Jackson and his colleague bring the neighbor in. They think it’s going to be a little bit to get the man to confess but he literally tells them in two seconds that he killed the man after confronting him.
Harper and John discovered that their criminal is in being with a crime organization and he’s in trouble. Angela and the sergeant arrived at the prison. They come face-to-face with his partner’s killer who makes a plea and an apology for his former self right in front of his wife and kid that are visiting.
Harper and John track down the SUV that belongs to the crime organization that his taking his criminal. The vehicle, at a train station, is empty but the hand of us coming over with his criminal’s watch lay bloody in the backseat. They start to search on foot. Harper takes two down while John continues to try to find his criminal.
Angela makes a statement to the parole board about the release of the prisoner. The sergeant takes the stand next. He talks about how angry he’s been for years and how much he loved his partner but his partner had his own faults and he doesn’t want to judge him. He hopes the prisoner can redeem himself with a second chapter. He hopes he will show his son what kind of responsible man he can be.
John goes to visit his criminal. He can’t believe John still came by to visit him to make sure he’s OK after saving his life. The criminal trials in about a hidden comic book collection that he will give John and swearing an affidavit so that John can get money back quickly for his kid’s college fund.
The surgeon wants to know how Jackson did on his to-do list with the compliance for the day. Jackson tells him all about how he solved a homicide instead. Sergeant wants that list but he commends Jackson is doing a good job. Tim tells Rachel he isn’t going anywhere.
