Tonight on FOX their blockbuster drama Empire airs with an all-new Tuesday, April 14, 2020, episode and we have your Empire recap below. On tonight’s Empire season 6 episode 17 called, “Over Everything” as per the FOX synopsis, “Lucious continues to run Empire and discovers some of Andre’s business missteps by way of Kelly Patel.
Meanwhile, Cookie tries to relaunch BossyFest but is met with major obstacles from the ASAs. Also, Hakeem and Maya’s unlikely partnership proves to be beneficial and Becky celebrates her birthday.”

Cookie was going ahead with BossyFest. BossyFest coincides with an ASAs ceremony and so Elvis Stone wasn’t happy with Cookie or Bossy. Not that Cookie was going to let his opinions of her stop her going ahead with Bossy Fest. She didn’t care what Elvis thought or said and she said as much in a recent interview. Cookie was so dismissive of him that he later struck back at her. Elvis Stone got to some of Cookie’s artists and he even targeted her vendors. He got several of them to drop out of Bossy Fest. It left Cookie and Becky scrambling and they didn’t know how to stop the leak once it had been sprung.
Cookie and Becky needed a shark. They needed Giselle and unfortunately, they tossed her out. They forced her to leave the company because she lied to them. She got them mixed up with dirty without their say so and so they tossed her out the company. They tossed her out, but she managed to get back on her feet again because this time she was working with Kelly Patel. Patel meanwhile was making moves on Empire. He said that his contract with Andre meant if Andre wasn’t working at the company that he could get his shares back and get Andre’s shares as well. Patel was making moves because he wanted to become the majority owner in Empire.
Patel has a legal path to it because Andre didn’t fully read through his contract with Patel. His mind was on other things and now that could cost his family everything. Lucious was made aware of the problem. He went to Andre so that Andre could explain to everything and Andre even considered coming back to Empire. He was originally going to extend his leave because he wanted to give back to the church. It was the church that helped him finally fight off Kingsley and so he wanted to give back to the church by going on a missionary with Reverend Pryce. He was planning on going to Uruguay in South America when this thing with Kelly came up.
Andre considered skipping his trip. He figured things would be better if he went back to work and at first his father was on board. Lucious had hoped Andre would be able to handle it. He looked better than he did before and so Andre came back to the company, but it wasn’t long before Lucious spotted him taking pills to stay alert and so that’s when Lucious stepped him. Lucious didn’t want Andre risking his health to help clean up this mess. Lucious said he finds a way out on his own and he had to do so fast because Patel wanted to put Giselle in the position of CEO. Patel and Giselle were sleeping together.
They were hiding it from everyone else. All the while that’s the real reason Patel wanted Giselle to be the CEO. He wanted to give his girlfriend a position in what he would thought would be his company soon and so Giselle went back to her old ways. Giselle once promised herself that she wouldn’t use a man for power again. But here she was doing the same old thing. Giselle has fallen on hard times since she left Bossy and Bossy wasn’t the same without. Becky and Cookie were fighting all the time about BossyFest. They were losing artists for the show and Becky felt they should stop their little war against the ASAs.
Becky thought Cookie forgot why Bossy was created. Bossy was created to give female singers who normally didn’t receive attention – some limelight. Becky thought Cookie was forgetting that and she also thought Cookie was using BossyFest as an ego trip. She even accused Cookie of putting herself first. Cookie didn’t know what to say to that and so she didn’t say anything. Cookie wasn’t going with apologies and Becky wasn’t going to accept one anyways. Becky hasn’t been herself. She’s been snorting drugs and it’s taken the toll on who she is. She wasn’t treating her friends properly and she had pushed away Porsha.
Becky, therefore, was in no position to help with Cookie’s battle. Cookie actually decided to team up with Lucious. She had heard what Lucious did for Andre and so they teamed up to take down Patel together. They hacked Giselle’s social media accounts. They found her footage of her and Patel in bed together and they were going to use that footage to nullify Patel’s position on Empire. Lucious was also offered the chance to backstab Cookie and he was considering it because it would have helped Yana. Only Yana found out his song for her wasn’t really about her. She had sung some of the lyrics in front of Cookie and Cookie remembered Lucious telling her that the night before they got married.
Cookie accidentally revealed to Yana that Lucious told her those words. So, Yana piece what really happened together. Yana realized Lucious had initially written the song for Cookie and it shattered the trust she put in him. Yana was left hurt. She shut herself away and Lucious didn’t notice. Lucious went ahead with supporting Cookie. He is boycotting the ASAs along with Cookie’s help and he was telling everyone about BossyFest.
The former couple also released the footage about Patel and Giselle and so them working together led to some amazing things.
They later talked about Lucious’s song. Cookie confronted him about it because she knew the song was written about her and they were discussing it when Andre came home. Andre’s wife Teri never wanted to see him again. So he decided to go on the missionary trip to South America and he told his family he was never coming back.
Hakeem meanwhile was coming to an agreement with his new wife in which they stayed married for her career and she helped him get positive headlines.
