The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that there’s one CBS soap alum who’s missed a great deal. Billy Miller played Billy Abbott from 2008 to 2014, but he’s never been forgotten by loyal Y&R viewers. Since Miller’s an incredible actor that plenty of fans would like to see in Genoa City again, could The Young and the Restless bring him back?
Of course, Jason Thompson currently plays the role of Billy – and he’s been an amazing recast since taking over the part from Burgess Jenkins in 2016. Thompson made the role his own, so there’s no need to kick him out. It’d be a mistake to shove someone so talented aside.
However, there’s no rule that says Miller would have to come back as Billy! It’s been long enough now that many fans would accept Miller as a new character. Miller could come on the scene as someone completely different, but it would still bring some familiar romantic opportunities.
For starters, there’s Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). As evidenced by Billy and Victoria’s latest reunion, the “Villy” magic isn’t due to the pairing itself. After a recast is brought in, it’s easy to lose the spark a duo once had.
Thompson and Heinle are pleasant enough in scenes together, but they arguably just don’t have “it” – that special something that really makes a soap romance click. It seems like “Villy” worked best when Miller was in the role.
Why not just bring Miller on again as a new character and let Victor find love with him instead? Who needs “Villy” history when you’ve got chemistry! It’s not like we ever see Billy and Victoria’s kids much anyway.
Besides, Billy’s latest round of wild behavior really ruined the relationship. Victoria has been burned by Billy too many times, so she’d be better off starting fresh with Miller in a new role. After everything Victoria’s been through, it’d be good for her to have a clean slate – one with proven chem!
Even so, Victoria wouldn’t be the only option on canvas for Miller’s potential new character. There were always lots of “Chilly” fans, too. Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) has a beautiful family with Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart), but no soap romance is safe. If Y&R decided to break Chloe and Kevin up, Miller could serve as Hendrickson’s next onscreen love interest.
