The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) has made his choice – and there seems to be no turning back. Kyle admitted Summer Newman (Hunter King) was the one he’d wanted all along, so Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle) was left brokenhearted. Lola is moving on while Kyle builds a life with Summer, but we have to ask: Will Kyle ultimately regret divorcing Lola?
That all depends on what story twists Y&R writers have in mind. Of course, Kyle’s confession of being hung up on Summer made sense in some ways. The Young and the Restless fans had watched Kyle and Summer’s bond remain intact. There were moments of connection and confidence – like when Summer stayed tight-lipped about the New York secret.
At the same time, Kyle certainly did his fair share of doting on Lola. They were blissful newlyweds for quite a while. The Young and the Restless sold “Kola” as their “it” couple for months, so it’s easy to see why so many Kyle and Lola fans were furious. It was all rather sudden, so Y&R could’ve done a far better job of handling Lola and Kyle’s split.
Even so, let’s focus on how Kyle feels now and how he might feel in the future. At the moment, Kyle’s living the dream. He’s got the girl he wants and plans to be with Summer forever. However, forever is an awfully long time on a soap! It doesn’t usually pan out like that, so “Skyle” will have to face some bumps in the road sooner or later.
Will Kyle and Summer be able to stick together through their challenges? Time will tell, but they definitely can’t stay in this state of contentment for good. That’s just not realistic for a soap couple, nor is it fair to Michael Mealor and Hunter King. They’ll need some gripping material to play eventually, so let’s hope they get it.
Will Kyle get burned by Summer somehow? If so, there might be times where Kyle longs for Lola and what might’ve been. That ship seems to have sailed since Lola doesn’t want Kyle back, but he might miss what they had at some point. It’s just a matter of what The Young and the Restless writers want to use as “Skyle” angst.
If Kyle starts highlighting the differences between Summer and Lola in some upcoming fights, that’d be a great way to rile Summer up. Anything to jumpstart the drama and give “Skyle” something to do!
Kyle and Summer seem poised to be one of those couples that always comes back around – like Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) or Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Couples like “Phick” and “Villy,” don’t always last, but history’s always going to repeat itself!
Once the first round of ‘Skyle’ reunion chaos strikes, will Kyle regret divorcing Lola? Will Summer issues lead Kyle to miss his old marriage or is Lola completely behind him?
