General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Ava Jerome (Maura West) seems to be battling some buried feelings for Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). After all, Ava cared for Nikolas once upon a time. In fact, Ava cared enough to ask her psychic to try communicating with Nik. It’s clear that Ava still felt connected to Nikolas while he was presumed dead.
Of course, everything changed after Nikolas showed back up alive and well. Nikolas pretended to be a ghost and tormented Ava, so he honestly deserves the marriage predicament he’s trapped in now. After the way Nikolas used Kiki Jerome’s (Hayley Erin) memory against Ava, it serves Nikolas right to be stuck in this jam.
Even so, Nikolas and Ava got some semi-romantic moments along the way. After Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) pushed Ava off the parapet, Nikolas dove in the dark waters to save Ava’s life.
General Hospital fans will recall those memorable moments when Nikolas burst in Valentin and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) wedding. When Nik had Ava in his arms, this had love story written all over it.
Unfortunately, GH has lost all momentum when it comes to Nikolas and Ava. The show had an opportunity to build on that along with the tension of this fake marriage. Instead, General Hospital hasn’t given much time and attention to “Nava.” Ava and Nikolas had a major fight shortly before new episodes ran out, but the conflict fell flat.
Plus, many General Hospital viewers aren’t loving the chemistry here. It seems like maybe Nikolas and Ava would be better suited to other love interests. Since this buildup hasn’t really gone anywhere, it wouldn’t hurt to just drop it and move on.
Should Ava find true love with someone else? Although Ava does seem to have those buried feelings we mentioned, she’d be better off with someone she could stand to be in the same room with. If Nikolas truly caves on the divorce, that could be Nik and Ava’s chance to move on.
It’s doubtful GH will break up Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) marriage to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), so Franco isn’t a great option for Ava at the moment.
However, plenty of General Hospital fans would like to see Ava and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) together. There might even be some handsome new guy that could come along and sweep Ava off her feet.
