The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Friday, June 5, tease that viewers will see an encore episode that originally aired on December 24, 2019. In the episode, Summer Newman (Hunter King) will trade barbs with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) at Society over his work conflict with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and his clear infatuation with Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle).
Theo will complain about Kyle sabotaging him at work, but Summer will think that Theo is sabotaging himself by obsessing over Kyle. Summer will think that Theo should focus on his work – that is, if he really wants his new corporate job.
Summer will also jab Theo about wanting Lola and about wanting virtually everything that Kyle has. Theo won’t appreciate that, but Summer will say that Theo needs to be honest with himself about what he wants.
Meanwhile, Kyle and Lola will be busy at their apartment decorating their Christmas tree and their apartment for the holiday. Kyle and Lola will enjoy their time together, but Kyle will put a damper on things when he continually mentions Theo and their problems working together at Jabot.
Lola will disapprove of all the Theo talk, but later Theo will send Lola a picture of him posing with a plate of food at Society. Lola will smile and start to respond, but she’ll think better of it and put her phone down. Over at Society, Theo will be upset that Lola didn’t respond.
At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, he and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) will enjoy some time together, and Elena will be in good spirits because she’ll have some time off coming. Devon will say that he’s going to take her to London, which is a destination on Elena’s bucket list.
Elena will be thrilled, and she and Devon will revel in their chance to get away for a few days. Elena will note that she knows the holidays will be tough for Devon after losing Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John). Elena and Devon will look online for hotel reservations, and they’ll happily push the button on the computer to book their stay.
Over at the Grand Phoenix, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will encounter Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) as he’s looking for Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan).
Phyllis and Nick will enjoy some playful banter, and Phyllis will want to discuss how they’re going to divide their time with Summer. After some back-and-forth, Nick will invite Phyllis to the Newman family Christmas.
Chelsea will then approach, noticing Nick and Phyllis talking. Phyllis will make herself scarce, and Chelsea and Nick will talk about holiday plans. Nick will be dismayed when Chelsea wants him to invite Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) for Christmas, but ultimately Nick will agree so that their boys can spend the holiday together.
At Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) house, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will talk with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) about holiday plans. Jack will wish aloud that Billy was back at Jabot, but he’ll be happy that his brother has a new job. Jack will want to invite Billy to the house for Christmas, but Billy will say that he, Victoria, and the kids will be in Telluride for the holiday.
Talk will turn to how Billy is doing, and Billy will get irked with Jack’s questions about whether he’s still seeing his therapist. Billy will cryptically say that he’s not seeing his therapist anymore, but that he is talking to someone.
Jack will soon take off, saying that he’s always there if Billy wants to talk. Billy will think to himself that he can’t talk to Jack because Jack won’t want to hear the truth…that he’s really a mess.
At Crimson Lights, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) will chat with Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) about his desire to start a private investigation business in Genoa City. Paul will give Chance some advice, noting that the business can be pretty slow compared to more exciting undercover work. Chance will like the sound of that.
Elsewhere in Crimson Lights, Phyllis will encounter Billy, and the two will chat about Phyllis’ recent firing from the Grand Phoenix. Phyllis will note that she’s standing firm as a part owner still, and Billy will compliment her for that.
Phyllis will end up making a comment about Billy’s mid-level consulting gig, irritating Billy, who will note that she’s just another person who’s criticizing his choices. Billy will think to himself that he doesn’t know who the “real Billy” is anymore.
Meanwhile, Chance will wrap up his conversation with Paul, and he’ll encounter Phyllis, who will needle him about what happened in Las Vegas with Adam. Phyllis will think that Chance should tell her what happened there, because she’s going to keep at it until she finds out what happened.
Finally, Billy will go to the Empty Glass, where he’ll immediately be invited to a poker game. Billy will tell himself that he’ll just play one hand. After one round, Billy will walk away and go off to drink by himself, telling himself that this was much easier than he thought it would be.
