British royals news reveals that Countess Sophie Wessex recently got involved in Kate Middleton’s “Hold Still” photography competition by sharing a photo. As you might have heard, Kate Middleton has launched the “Hold Still” competition in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery. The purpose is to get folks in the UK to submit photos they’ve taken during the coronavirus pandemic.
Kate and the National Portrait Gallery have invited citizens to submit photos to help create a collective portrait of the nation “which will reflect resilience and bravery, humor and sadness, creativity and kindness, human tragedy and hope as we hold still for the good of others, and celebrate those who have contributed so we can stay safe.”
Photos submitted should respond to one of the following themes: Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal, or Acts of Kindness. In the end, 100 of the portraits will be shown in a virtual exhibition on the National Portrait Gallery’s website, as well as across the UK later in the year.
Well, recently, Countess Sophie and Prince Edward visited the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking, as they had heard about the various initiatives the mosque was undertaking relative to the coronavirus situation, including a food bank. Countess Sophie took a photo while she was there and submitted the photo to the “Hold Still” competition.
The photo was showcased on the Royal Family’s Instagram page, and was of a volunteer named Ali, who was smiling happily as he put bags of supplies together. The caption read as follows: “As part of #VolunteersWeek, The Countess of Wessex has contributed to The Duchess of Cambridge’s #HoldStill2020 photography project.”
The caption then went on to describe Ali, the gentlemen pictured in Countess Sophie’s photo. The caption said: “Ali helped to establish the Mosque’s food parcel delivery service for NHS workers, people self-isolating, and other families in need, which has so far helped 400 households. Ali’s smile captures the enthusiasm for helping others that is so evident amongst the volunteers at the Mosque.”
Photos for the “Hold Still” initiative can be submitted until June 18th, and Kate Middleton has been featuring some of the submissions on the Kensington Palace Instagram feed.
“We’ve all been struck by some of the incredible images we’ve seen which have given us an insight into the experiences and stories of people across the country,” Kate Middleton wrote. “Some desperately sad images showing the human tragedy of this pandemic and other uplifting pictures showing people coming together to support those more vulnerable.”
