The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is in desperate need of a reboot. This character could use a major overhaul when Y&R returns with new episodes. Rey’s a fantastic guy, but some changes could benefit the character and give Jordi Vilasuso a real chance to shine in the role. Here are some improvements Y&R could make to Rey.
More Than Just Sharon’s Sidekick
It’s been sweet to see Rey being so supportive to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) throughout her cancer battle, but it also feels like he’s just Sharon’s sidekick now. If it’s not about Sharon, Rey isn’t involved. That’ll be easier to fix following Sharon’s cancer recovery, but it’s crucial for Rey to get some drama of his own eventually.
Explore Other Character Connections
Of course, it’s not enough to just step out of Sharon’s bubble. Y&R needs to explore some other character connections on canvas. That might mean a new love interest for Rey or it could simply mean developing more friendships and rivalries. Now that Rey’s family in Genoa City is dwindling, it’s more important than ever to make sure Rey’s tied to other people.
New Cases to Crack at the GCPD
Rey took a step back from his job at the GCPD to focus on Sharon, which was the right choice. However, Rey may be able to devote more time to work once The Young and the Restless starts airing new episodes again. It’d be nice to see Y&R deliver some new mysteries – ones that could unravel slowly and bring some fun twists.
Rey could definitely use some cases to crack since he’s great in detective mode. The Young and the Restless fans will recall how heavily involved Rey was in the J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) saga. It’d be excellent if Rey could be given another exciting storyline like that. Rey might start feeling like a bigger part of the canvas again if he were the lead detective in a huge umbrella story.
