Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, June 18, reveal that Jimmy the mob guy (Chuma Hunter-Gault) was arguing with Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) at the warehouse when another mob guy named Luca (James Black) walked in to make sure things were going smoothly. Luca noted that Gabi wasn’t Jake Lambert’s (Brandon Barash) girl Gwen (Emily O’Brien). Gabi quickly learned that Jake got messed up in the mob in Philly only about a year-and-a-half ago.
At the penthouse, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) brought the hammer down on Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan), who apologized for lying to them again. Gwen took the blame, saying that she asked Claire to keep quiet about her being there. Marlena and John soon learned that Claire convinced Gwen to come forward with the book, which Gwen promptly produced.
Gwen explained that the book has names and account numbers in it, and that Jake’s boss wants it back. Marlena quickly surmised that this was mob related. Marlena went to call Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal), to let her know that the book was found.
Meanwhile, over at the DiMera mansion, Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) lurked outside near the front door. Eli said that he peeked into the mansion and saw Jake, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), and Ciara huddled around some book. Lani and Eli wondered what was going on.
Inside the mansion, Jake took the Kiriakis copy of Crime & Punishment and scribbled names and numbers in the margins to make the book look like the real book that the mob is after.
An argument ensued about whether Ciara would go with Ben and Jake to the warehouse. Suddenly, Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) swooped in and took the book from them, saying it was his and that he was in the middle of reading it.
Ciara pointed out that the book belonged to Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), but Xander insisted he had been reading the book, then he got a look at Jake and marveled at how much Jake looked like Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash).
Xander tried to walk off with the book, but Ben, Jake, and Ciara chased after him and wrestled with him over it, with Ciara telling Xander that the book was a matter of life and death.
Ben, Jake, and Ciara ended up forcibly getting the book away from Xander after a serious brawl. During the brawl, Ciara missed a call from Marlena. Xander left in a huff, wondering what was so special about that book. “Since when is a book a matter of life and death?”
Xander said to himself as he left the mansion. Lani and Eli heard that remark and wondered what on earth was going on.
Eventually, Jake and Ben left the mansion, with Ciara under strict instructions to wait an hour, then call the police if she didn’t hear anything. Lani and Eli followed Ben and Jake as they took off.
Over at the Salem Inn, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) sat in bed upset over an apparent lovemaking attempt gone wrong. Brady was embarrassed, saying that “this” had never happened to him before, and that he couldn’t stop thinking about Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk).
Sarah said that she had been thinking about Xander, too.
Brady said that he still loved Kristen, and he wondered if Sarah was ready to forgive Xander. Xander then knocked on the door, yelling that it was him and that he wanted to see Sarah. Sarah answered, and Xander asked her to please come with him – he had something to show her. Sarah reluctantly agreed and left with Xander.
Brady stayed in the room alone and looked unhappily at a picture of Kristen on his phone. He said to himself that he hoped Kristen and Rachel were happy together, as he looked out the window wistfully.
At the cemetery, Xander showed Sarah a new headstone where Mackenzie “Mickey” Horton was buried. Sarah was truly touched as Xander said that he wanted to spare her the pain of having to change the headstone herself.
Xander said that he made the lie happen, so it was only right that he should be the one to undo this. Xander left Sarah alone, where she cried and spoke to Mickey softly.
Back at the townhouse, John, Claire, and Gwen talked, and Gwen learned about the whole Stefan/Jake lookalike situation. It also came out that Gwen has only known Jake for a year-and-a-half, but she balked at the idea that he could actually be Stefan. Claire and John tried to explain that Jake’s memories could have even implanted.
Later, Marlena and Claire talked by themselves. Marlena was peeved and not having any of Claire’s attitude. Marlena threatened to send Claire back to her parents if she didn’t behave going forward.
Gwen walked in and said that Claire made her realize she needed to do the right thing with the mob book. That seemed to help Claire’s situation with Marlena.
Ciara then showed up at the penthouse and met Gwen. Ciara relayed that Ben and Jake went to make the exchange for Gabi with a phony book. Marlena was horrified, and Ciara tried to call Ben but he didn’t answer. John said he was going to the warehouse with the mob book to put an end to this.
Back at the warehouse, Gabi, Jimmy, and Luca bickered, and pretty soon Jimmy got a call saying that Jake and some other guy had arrived. Ben and Jake came in, and Jake and Luca stared each other down.
Then Gabi and Jake stared each other down. After some back and forth, Jimmy untied Gabi and held her at knifepoint while Luca examined the phony book.
Luca wasn’t fooled and deemed the book a fake. Jake admitted that the book was a fake, and shortly thereafter Lani and Eli burst in the warehouse with guns drawn. Eli shot Luca, and Jimmy continued to hold Gabi at knifepoint. Lani and Eli were in a standoff with Jimmy and Gabi, and Lani suddenly got a bout of morning sickness.
Lani was heaving, which gave Gabi a moment to elbow Jimmy and she got free while Eli subdued Jimmy. Lani went into the adjacent room to throw up. Eli looked amazed, as he thought that Lani was faking being sick to create a diversion.
Back at the Salem Inn, Xander showed up to see Brady. Xander offered Brady a heartfelt and quick apology for the baby swap, then left. Brady was stunned.
Back at the townhouse, John was on his way out the door when Ciara got a call from Ben saying that Gabi was safe and Lani and Eli had arrived just in time. Ciara relayed the news to everyone, stopping John from going to the warehouse. Gwen pointed out that they were still in possession of the mob book, which someone would eventually come after.
And back at the warehouse, Gabi talked with Jake, thanking him for coming to her rescue. They quickly started bickering, and Ben walked up saying that Gwen was with Ciara and Claire over at the penthouse. Lani and Eli then walked up, wondering what the deal was with the book. Jake said it was a long story.
